lanna26 Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 I have the Steam version of the sim, and today I played the game before the 1.2.8 update, and everything was perfect. Then I installed it, and the game just won't start. The black box which appears just before the game starts (bin/Launcher.exe) is opening, but the game isn't. What could it be, and how can I solve this? Thank's and sorry for my english.
lanna26 Posted April 29, 2014 Author Posted April 29, 2014 Same problem here with non-steam version. I started a ticket in DCS support, and awaiting answer. As soon as I solve this, I'll post the solution, so you can try it. Maybe you could start a ticket as well, so they will notice it isn't an isolated issue. Reegards
fearlessfrog Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 While you wait for proper support, here's some things to try (especially step 9 if it worked before): http://steamcommunity.com/app/223750/discussions/0/864975249578683704/ Hope that helps. ~~~ http://www.mudspike.com
lanna26 Posted April 29, 2014 Author Posted April 29, 2014 Unfortunately, it didn't work. I didn't turned off UAC though, as I don't know what is it. Thank's anyway.

MBot Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Uninstalled DCS World and re-downloaded everything. Still unable to launch the game. During installation it couldn't install some runtime stuff IIRC due to me apparently already having a newer version.

Yeah, ED people asked me to redownload it again, but my net is an "awesome" 60kb/s, and it would took one week to download it. So I asked for another solution. They are looking for it, and will report ASAP. As soon as the game start, I'll post the solution here.

MBot Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Just to follow up on this, the multiplayer executable is working. During the installation of DCS World, the installation of vc2010redist_x64.exe is failing due to: "Auf dem Computer wurde eine neuere Version von Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable gefunden" / "A newer version of Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable has been found on your computer"
Pigwiggen Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 My problem is that the sim just freezes on me whenever I try to change a view or close flaps that I now want closed. Furthermore the 'Esc' key doesn't function anymore neither does the usual Ctrl-Alt-Delete. All that after 1.2.8 going in. And 1.2.7 was running perfectly. I too have sent off a plea for help. Grrr. sobek Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 In the meantime, if nothing else helps you can tell the updater to roll your install back to 1.2.7 by navigating the command prompt to the bin folder in your install, then running the command: dcs_updater.exe release:1.2.7 Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!

Sceptre Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 I fixed this problem for myself with the non steam version. Make a backup before you do this. 1. copy all of the contents from DCS World\_downloads into the dcs world main folder. Overwrite if asked. 2. Use Run.exe to launch the game. Should work now! This has worked twice for me on 2 completely different installs so hopefully it works for you too. Dagger71 Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 seems like a few of us having same issue. Tried all steps outlined (except for rollback since I currently have bad internet connection)
T-Bear Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Same issue as Dagger but rollback to 1.2.7 worked for me.

MBot Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Any news on this? Additional details required, is it even recognized by ED? I hope this will not exclude us from DCS until the release of 1.2.9.
