Just put in a ASUS GTX 780-DC2 video card and have been trying to optimize the settings for DCS. I am using NVIDIA Inspector as well as experimenting with the settings in the "options" panel within the sim. I know there are those that are waaaay ahead of me as regards this task and was wondering if anyone might share their efforts and final settings with me. The one issue I can't seem to resolve is the blurriness of the HUD fonts as well as the clarity of the labels on the various switches and knobs. I can zoom in and eventually read them but I know I have had them much clearer in the past and simply cannot repeat the setting that gave me that sharpness. I am running the resolution at the native resolution of my HD TV wiich I use as a monitor at 1360X768. I get great visuals and FPS with that in game, but still have this "sharpness" issue within the cockpit view. Any suggestions and advice would be appreciated. Even with these old 71 year old eyes, I know I can get this thing to look even clearer than at present.:helpsmilie:

Setting the "Textures" options to "High" and "Res. Of Cockpit Displays" to "1024 every frame" should make everything pretty sharp in the cockpit. You can also set the "MSAA" setting to as high as you would like, each step up will make everything even more sharp at the expense of computer performance. Hope this helps.

TBH, "1360X768" Might be the reason everything is blurry

You can try a higher MSAA Setting, A Higher AF Setting, but outside of that.. there's no real way to force clearer textures on a low resolution panel.

Thanks Sel94 for the reply. I already had the settings as you suggested and its still not getting it done. I feel the issue lies in the settings I selected in the NIVIDIA Inspector settings and will still experiment with those. As I indicated, I know there are folks who have already been down this road and was seeking their input as to what the optimum settings might be for DCS World in NIVIDIA Inspector. I appreciate everyone has rather unique hardware and there is no "one size fits all" approach to what settings work best for any particular setup, but thought I would ask here for some feedback.

Skate,

Thanks for the input. I have experimented with various resolution settings and when I use the 1920X1080 thats available both in the "options" settings as well as within my monitor settings, it is actually worse. But I think you have me on the right track so I will keep experimenting with the available resolutions and settle on what works best.

yes do not stray from your native resolution .

I think the problem may lie with this "nvidia inspector" thing, from what i can tell it's a 3rd party program, not made by nvidia that is supposed to "increase framerate" .

It sounds something like we used WAY LONG ago in the aquamark3 days :D . It was a driver that would give you a couple more frames in that ancient benchmark so you could brag about it.

But more fps , usually means less image quality , so maybe these drivers take away some image quality to increase frame rate.

Maybe in 99% of games you may not even notice this but in rare instances you DO notice, like the HUD clarity in DCS ?

Have you tried running without nvidia inspector ? And just use standard driver ?

It sounds to me like the OP is using a 720p TV as a monitor. I would hazard a guess that it will not be easy to get a good readable HUD, at normal cockpit view, from that display.

Okay Guys, thanks for all the feedback. I do believe cichlidfan is correct in that the TV is a 34 inch 720p and I suppose I should have never expected the same sharpness as I had on my previous monitor which was 27 inch. Especially at the distance I sit from the screen. Thought that these old eyes might benefit from a larger screen and that is most likely true, but not at 720p. Perhaps one of those high priced Dell monitors would do the trick but I think $1 G is beyond my budget. Again, thanks for your input . I have returned to my native resolution and have set the NVIDIA Inspector at DCS World "defaults" and I can live with the results. Just simply can't expect top drawer results on a limited budget. Watch your six and enjoy this sim as much as I do. Tried BMS Falcon with the new video card as well. The results are stunning.
