speeeedy Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Is there a way to have them in neutral Position when starting/flying instead of open ? Butcher59 Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 (edited) So far as i know, no. Not if you use it as an simple f-18 mod with fc3 dll's and so on. That's because the ingame F-15 has no leading edges and therefore there is no animation if you use the f-18. To have the edges move, you must have the externel max file of the F-18 and rename or reanimate the edges with the proper arg which the f-15 uses for the flaps, so you have the edges move with the flaps (for example), or make complete new model with all what it need's to work. Maxzouz Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 I might me wrong here but I think slats can't be controlled by the pilot IRL. This is automatic control via an onboard computer. If we can't do it in real life you can't do it in DCS :). Please someone correct me if I'm wrong

speeeedy Posted May 14, 2014 Author Posted May 14, 2014 Thank you for trying to help me out. I was not thinking about animated slats. The slats should only stay in neutral position. I often see that slats are lowered in flyable mods. Somewhere i saw something like: slatsleft = 1 or 0 slatsright = 1 or 0 but I don't know where and how to put this command in and if it will work. Maybe SFM data or mechanical. SkateZilla Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 I'm pretty sure Slats are Controlled by the FCS. Seeing as you're using the F-18 w/ F-15 Pit Mod, there are no SLAT Commands in the Systems as the F-15C doesn't have SLATs Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2), ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9) 3x ASUS VS248HP + Oculus HMD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + MFDs
IvanK Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 In the Hornet you have only Three Flap positions. Flaps UP/AUTO, FLAPS HALF and FLAPS FULL. Typical usage is Take Off Flaps Half, Landing Flaps Full, Airborne after gear selected up Flaps UP/AUTO In FLAPS UP/AUTO the leading edge flaps are positioned as a function of AOA and in effect do their own thing. At certain very low AOA they will be essentially streamline (Neutral) with the wing. A push to 0G will do this though as soon any AOA comes on they will start moving again. In vertical extensions (maybe against low T/W adversary's) a "pump" to 0G will bring them in thus minimising drag during the extension.
Iberian Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Giving the attributes of a mig to the f-18 lets you control them, however, then you're flying a mig with the body of f18 :P so no tailhook function [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
speeeedy Posted June 11, 2014 Author Posted June 11, 2014 Thank you for your answer Iberian, but I don't want to control them I only want them to stay in upper Position. | i7 4770k 3,5 GHz | Asus Z77 Sabertooth | 16 GB 2400 DDR3 | GTX 980ti | 1 x 128 GB SSD | 1 x 250 GB SSD | 1 x 1 TB HDD WD | MS SW X4 | RAT 7 Infection | TM Warthog | MFG Crosswind S/N 1110 | TrackIR v5 | ASUS VG278HE 1920x1080 | ASUS ROG Swift PG278Q 2560x1440 | WIN 8.1 x64 | FC3, A10C, Bf-109K-4, C-101, F-86, FW-190D9, Hawk, Ka-50, Mi-8MTV2, P-51D, Uh-1H
Iberian Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 From what I've seen, the AI controls them, it just depends on the speed and angle of attack which varies in aircraft, which will determine the position. On some aircraft the pilot cannot control at all (example A-4 Skyhawk, theres no control for slats for pilot, it works purely by airspeed and AOA) So maybe some the AI can't raise up either. I noticed an AI F-16C have them down during ground ops, and later in cruise flight it had it up. Hopp Schwiz! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
