When is this issue going to be fixed for the non-edge maps. Looking at the latest communication from wags, the edge release will take still long, taking into account the items on the todo list for the edge maps.

Ditto for non-EDGE maps AFAIK. A pity, I know, but them's the breaks :(

What I do as a workaround. .. I track the path of these vehicles. Any bridges it encounters I change the path to off-road around these bridges where possible. Works for bridges over railroads and small rivers. Does not work really for broad rivers, as vehicles cannot cross them. .. so I design my vehicle movements as such that they never need to cross large rivers. ..

Wise idea ! Use what you have at hand right now.

Wasn't there a post from Wags recently stating what will make it soon into DCS and what is still being worked on and will take longer than planned/annunced ?

I am not counting on EDGE till after 1Q/2015 with an extended OpenBeta time before that to iron out bugs. Rather later and stable than too soon and too buggy.

Bitmaster, i understand. However, these kind of problems should not take a long time for dcs to fix. When you see a vehicle driving under a bridge like that, the vehicle is suddenly launched upwards and takes a rest on the bridge. In other words, there is some logic/parameter that does that behaviour. That should not be too hard to fix I guess, looking at the magnificent code that had been written on other areas within the simulator. These kind of bugs start on the list (if it is at all on the list) for ages due to low priority given. And by doing that, these kind of bugs stay in the system for ages...

So, again my question to ED, what is the status and long before a fix is even considered to be made?

ED, and ED forum moderators, if some communication on this item can be done from DCS product support, that would be very welcome.

Lol. Sven reminds me when I was a young padawan on DCS... I was young, full of hope and certainties....

How can I say that, well Sven, giving you an example, it took ED 12 patches to fix the un-repairable HUD bug for Black Shark... I thought too it was easy to fix....

I am sure if it was an easy fix it would have been done already. Dont assume something is an easy fix. So lets keep in constructive and on topic.

Yes!!! Finally! I was lately updating my missions to put an explosion on all railway bridges at mission start... now, on to ranting about route finding and convoy AI... just kidding! ; )

I'm happy to see this finally got a fix as it was a real PITA.

Thanks for the info, Sith

Yep! Just took the odd year or two... ok, no bickering, glad they managed to put it in before 2.0

Thanks ED. And thanks for all the other little fixes... :)

As always, patience is a virtue. I am sure this isn't the only bug that will get the attention it deserves, and am also sure that ranting will not make them happen any faster. What it will do however is "bite the hand that feeds us".

This forum, and all it's users need to be mindful of how it is seen by ED. Might be worth remembering that when we get a bee in our bonnets, frustrating though the wait is, we are not being ignored.

Wasn't ranting in any way. I posted in the bug thread, and the wishlist and after a year of NO feedback I sent ONE PM to Evilbivol to ask if they had overlooked the issue. He said they had been busy and he will point the dev team to it, and so he did... it is about the difference in communication. Bugs or broken features happen all the time, point them out, make the devs aware is absolutely ok. Just keep to the facts, spare any adjectives not describing the problem or addressed towards people and everything is fine.

A little polite reminder the issue still exists, until acknowledged, doesn't hurt either. Depends if you know the devs have the problem on the to-do- list and just different priorities or do not yet know about the issue.

The bridge bug was virtually "game breaking" for any mission requiring AI driving on roads, so after more than half a year or no fix I wouldn't consider trying to shift developers priority to fixing it, ranting either.

;)

I will say that among the testers this was very well known and oft repeated as a game breaker. That said, I have no problem with any of the above, in fact it is welcomed.
