-MadCat-
Well, the Ka-50 could easily keep up. And if the Mi-8 doesn't give it all, the UH-1 can too. Unfortunately I have no idea about my current fps in mp, don't know if it would be a slide show for me with all the Mi-8. And I have to confess not having too much experience with the Mi-8 either, would feel lot more comfortable in Ka-50 or UH-1. docfu
No, I'd be flying CAS in a SU-25T. I don't own either of the helicopter modules and there's no way I could learn them before this weekend even if I did purchase them. So flying air escort part way...like in a stealth ops mission, would be interesting...
Slazi
Sorry docfu. There's not really any place for aircraft in this one. Perhaps when I get back from my travels I'll run a game with a few more positions? I could put a Ka-50 in. We could have that flying support. There will be no targets on this mission. The main objective is just to have a few Mi-8s flying together towards a destination.
Cibit
I wonder if this is successful we could create a mission based on what people would choose to fly and tailor the mission to include specific slots assigned before hand to interested parties. Then we would need someone capable of hosting. I think it would be cool to try and combine ideas into a custom mission designed around input from thread contributers rather than join a MP server and have to fly what is currently loaded:music_whistling: i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB

Charly_Owl
I just tried the Mi-8 and got it flying. It's got me hooked: it's a really, really cool rotorcraft! I just love it more and more with each flight. I'll have to figure out how to use the weapon systems, but I'll join you guys for a night flight if you want! A joy ride in my Mi-8! Slazi
Hey Charly! No need for weapons. This is purely a flight with a possible pickup. The main idea is just to get a few of us Mi-8 pilots in a server together. I'm a little concerned about finding a time suitable for everyone. I doubt it'll be possible. But I'll try and find something suitable for as many players as possible. I'm gonna put my server up now if anyone wants to check their connection. I'll be running a TS3 server on the day, too. Details will be posted here before the event. Test Server Name - Slazia: NF Test Password - None. Running an early test version of the mission. I'll join just to fly about for a bit. -MadCat-
If possible, I'd like to play an escort role with a Ka-50. Don't care too much about the time honestly, as long as my pc gives me enough fps to enjoy. As many others likely too, I'm used to do my own flight planning, fuel calculations, navigation computer programming and write down all the necessary stuff I need during flight. So I'd only need a "naked" Ka-50 slot, no fuel, no payload, no waypoints, no nothing, just the Ka-50. Therefor, nice to know would be (as soon as it's certain): Mission start time (ingame) Departure time (ingame) Departure aerodrome Lat./Long. of all waypoints Desired cruise speed for all legs Or ETA (ingame) at arrival aerodrome [*]Estimated "time on station" (you mentioned possible pickups) [*]Arrival aerodrome [*]All necessary radio frequencies (apart from standard ATC freqs.) [*]How many unarmed helicopters (= approx. time in landing pattern for escort) Looking forward to this ! :) MadCat Link -> Stateful button commands for many DCS modules
Slazi
Ok, I've put all your times into a spreadsheet to make everything easy to manage. It looks like we'll be flying at 14:00 UTC. I'll try to get the server up before then so everyone can get in, check everything is working etc. I'll post full mission details ASAP. But for now, 14:00 UTC. - TODAY :) Possible members: Slazia Zulumike Wolf5 Madcat (time?) Unfortunately it is out of Jorgwell's requested time zones. Sorry Jorg. Slazi
Mission: Slazia's Night Flight Time: Sat 7th 14:00 UTC We've got to go and collect some new recruits who have gotten themselves lost. They managed to find a town and have radiod us with their location. The flight plan is below: Waypoint 0 Name/Task: Home Base Location: Sukhumi-Babushara LAT: 42°52'07''N LONG: 41°07'07''E Arrival: 20:30:00 Departure: 20:45:00 \\\\\ Waypoint 0 (Guest) Name/Task: Home Base (Guest) Location: Gudauta LAT: 43°6'43''N LONG: 40°34'6''E Arrival: 20:30:00 Departure: 20:45:00 \\\\\ Waypoint 1 Name/Task: Refuel / Regroup Location: FARP Skala & Otkrytka (124.5 / 127.5 AM) LAT: 43°23'47''N LONG: 41°59'12''E Arrival: 21:15:00 Departure: 21:30:00 Waypoint 2 Name/Task: Pickup infantry lost on exercise Location: Town of Tyrnyauz LAT: 43°23'22''N LONG: 42°54'59''E Arrival: 22:00:00 Departure: 21:10:00 Waypoint 3 Name/Task: (DP) Land and drop off troops Location: Nalchik (Airbase) LAT: 43°30'50''N LONG: 43°38'11''E Arrival: 22:35:00 Departure: N/A The approx mission time is 2h05m. But that includes around 25 minutes of waiting time. We can cut this down. People may want to leave at some of the wp landings. That is cool. Teamspeak 3: Up now if you need to test. I might need to close it down at some point, but will be up before event starts again. 114.158.92.125 Everyone MUST join. Even if you are not speaking, you need to be able to listen to others. -MadCat-
Hi Slazi, time is about perfect for me.:) Just doing my flight planning, the freq. for the farp is missing, coordinates for the farp and the pickup are the same and times at the pickup cannot be correct! My flight plan: Sukhumi -> 1 : Range : 92,5 km Heading : 044 ° Elevation difference : 1596 m Highest elevation (direct route) : 3385 m Cruise speed : 186 km/h Leg time : 30 min Fuel used (Ka-50) : 491 kg 1 -> 2 : Range : 75,8 km Heading : 083 ° Elevation difference : -262 m Highest elevation (direct route) : 3690 m Cruise speed : 152 km/h Leg time : 30 min Fuel used (Ka-50) : 491 kg 2 -> Nalchik : Range : 60 km Heading : 070 ° Elevation difference : -913 m Highest elevation (direct route) : 2510 m Cruise speed : 144 km/h Leg time : 25 min Fuel used (Ka-50) : 409 kg Nalchik -> closest alternate (Mozdok): Range : 85 km Heading : 061 ° Elevation difference : -275 m Highest elevation (direct route) : 430 m Cruise speed : 230 km/h Leg time : 22 min Fuel used (Ka-50) : 360 kg Together with times on station, warmup, takeoff, landing and reserve, my fuel sums up to 2792 kg. Being the escort, I'm planning to stay airborne at the waypoints. Payload will be 4 external tanks, 72% internal fuel, being 2804 kg total plus full ammo for the cannon. (Will negotiate all that directly with the ground crew at Sukhumi) Hope this helps others with the flight planning too. Greetings MadCat Edited June 7, 2014 by -=MadCat=- Link -> Stateful button commands for many DCS modules

Slazi
Sorry about that Charly. I plan on organizing some more missions once I'm back from the U.S. I'm also doing a bit of research on doppler navigation and radio usage so the Mi-8 pilots can navigate without assistance from the Ka-50. I made a slight error with the mission and we could see our position on the F10 map last time, but we only really used that to check everyone was together. Some peope weren't able to talk on TS much, but that was ok. Ended up a lot of fun. Oh - and everyone should join the Steam Mi-8 group - if you use Steam - http://steamcommunity.com/groups/DCSMi-
Cibit
We have the knowledge to navigate ourselves, it was great having madcat but I felt the mi-8s should do navigation:) i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB
