Scrim Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 I've looked on Google, but been unable to find anything, and I reckon someone here knows it: How does the Mig-21 stick look (buttons, switches all around it) and what do the different buttons and such do?
xxJohnxx Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Trying to explain it: Backside: - Gun trigger. It has 3 positions: up - safe, down - armed and depressed - fire. - Bellytank drop. The pinkyswitch is used to drop the central fueltank. - Wheelbrake. A leaver used to controll the wheelbrakes. Front: - Trimmer (up/down). - Autopilot recovery mode button - Autopilot disconnect button - Radarlock button - Weapon Trigger That's all. Nothing fancy, just some basic stuff. 1 Check out my YouTube: xxJohnxx Intel i7 6800k watercooled | ASUS Rampage V Edition 10 | 32 GB RAM | Asus GTX1080 watercooled
Scrim Posted May 24, 2014 Author Posted May 24, 2014 Cheers for the info! I don't suppose it's possible to buy such a stick for a PC anywhere?
Zakatak Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 (edited) xxJohnxx and WoAyumi have somewhat different answers. Can someone confirm if one of them is correct? What is on the throttle would be nice to know as well. Cheers for the info! I don't suppose it's possible to buy such a stick for a PC anywhere? I don't think anyone has actually recreated this stick, but pretty much all HOTAS setups over a hundred bucks should do the trick. Looks pretty simple, much more so than the A-10C or Ka-50. Zakatak Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 (edited) Decided to Google search it, someone asked this question on this forum awhile ago. Can't quote it due to old MiG-21 forum being locked, but I'll copy and paste what Beczl said. --- For stick: 1. Gun trigger (upward position – SAFE, downward position – ARMED, pulled – FIRE) 2. Trimmer button (pitch only) 3. Autopilot “recovery” mode engage button 4. Autopilot disengage button 5. Radar lock-on button (also piper stabilization when using ASP optical sight) 6. Bomb, rockets, missiles fire button (under visible red cap) 7. Ejection handle 8. Gear brake lever 9. Fuselage (center) fuel tank jettison button EDIT: Explaining Recovery mode. Early manuals used "levelling" instead of "recovering." For throttle: 1. Multi function throttle rotator (TDC up-down and/or ASP pipper size) 2. Radio PTT button 3. Airbrake in/out 4. Throttle fixator 5. Throttle lock / engine stop Edited May 24, 2014 by Zakatak

Scrim Posted May 25, 2014 Author Posted May 25, 2014 I've got the Warthog stick, but if I can find a -21 stick, that'd be great. I still remember how great it felt the first time I started DCS A-10C with the matching stick and throttle. There's nothing quite like it.

Sceptre Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 (edited) thanks cobra, it would be awesome to see a company like Thrustmaster make a "HOTAS MiG" Edited May 25, 2014 by Sceptre RTX 2070 8GB | 32GB DDR4 2666 RAM | AMD Ryzen 5 3600 4.2Ghz | Asrock X570 | CH Fighterstick/Pro Throttle | TM MFDs | TrackIR 5
JorgeIII Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Thanks Cobra. Wainting here to configure my stick and take off!! PS: If backer arent getting the Mig one week early at first stated I hope at least we are getting it at the same time than new clients, just a note. AKA TANGO-117. DCS Modules: most of them, proficiency: only a few at a time. The most crucial aspect of a simulator is its realistic physics and precise aerodynamics, accurately reflecting all flight conditions.
WildBillKelsoe Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 fortunately I got CH pro throttle and fighterstick so it should be a walk in the park for me... J7G Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Wasn't there somebody last year gauging interest in a stick mod to convert into a MiG...29 I think it was stick?

Scrim Posted May 25, 2014 Author Posted May 25, 2014 Well, it doesn't look like a Mig-21 stick, so I'm guessing it's a replica of another Mig stick?
Sceptre Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 looks like a black version of the Su-35 stick.... but it's sold out :( RTX 2070 8GB | 32GB DDR4 2666 RAM | AMD Ryzen 5 3600 4.2Ghz | Asrock X570 | CH Fighterstick/Pro Throttle | TM MFDs | TrackIR 5
JaNk0 Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Yeah, sorry. It's not mig-21 nor mig at all...but it was (sold out atm) an alternative to the A-10 stick [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
