Cali Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Anyone in here play DayZ? I downloaded it the other day and it's pretty addicting. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
CypherGrunyev Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 I played it back when it was in Alfa-Mod status for A2 never liked it. It got pointless after a while, just endless scavenging. Nothing fun about that. Man I could really use a navigator right about now. i7-3770K @ Stock MSI GD-65 Z77 Mobo G.Skill Ripjaws Z [16GB] @ 2133 Mhz AMD Radeon HD 7950 [sapphire Tech] @ 1150/1600 Mhz OCZ Vector 256GB [C:/] Seagate Barracuda LP 2TB @ 5900RPM [D:/] Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB @ 7200 [E:/] Western Digital Blue 1TB @ 7200 [H:/] Corsair AX850 PSU Corsair 650D Case [so Sexy <3]
SkateZilla Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 I have both Standalone and mod, but never have time to play it, I played the crap out of the alpha S.A. for a while. but had to stop as it was taking up time I didnt have to spare. kk0425 Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 I found it pretty fun until I got geared up. After that I didn't have any more reason to play other than kill other people which I'm against in that game. No fun for them to get shot at for no reason.
Sceptre Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 (edited) It gets boring pretty quick.... after having played over 2000 hours on Arma 2, I am sick of Chernarus.. lol. EDIT: are you talking about the standalone or the mod? The standalone can be a lot of fun if you run with a group of friends, but it just turned into 'Hiking Simulator 2014' and I didn't like that. Maybe when vehicles are added I'll play it again. Sceptre Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 waht is that exactly ? a zombie standalone game or a mod in arma evironment ? Both. The standalone makes changes to the arma 2 engine and makes most of the houses have detailed interior. The mod is somewhat complex to install but has a lot of user created content that is changing all the time. The mod however, is free. You only need to buy Arma 2 to play it. The 2 versions of DayZ have nothing to do with each other. Both are separate games. xxJohnxx Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 The standalone is in an alpha right now. Far from beeing finished. Howerver, a lot of people play it, and it is fun, though there is a lack of content. Sceptre Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Standalone is made by a 3rd party and the mod is community made. Neither are made by BI, they are focused on Arms 3 RTX 2070 8GB | 32GB DDR4 2666 RAM | AMD Ryzen 5 3600 4.2Ghz | Asrock X570 | CH Fighterstick/Pro Throttle | TM MFDs | TrackIR 5
xxJohnxx Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Standalone is made by a 3rd party and the mod is community made. Neither are made by BI, they are focused on Arms 3 I don't think that is correct. Dean Hall (Rocket; main DayZ developer (both mod and standalone)) is working for Bohemia Interactive at the momment and DayZ standalone is officialy developed and published by Bohemia Interactive. Well you're probably right, I just haven't played DayZ in a while. I play Arma 3 quite a lot of the time and check Bohemia's updates and news frequently, but I have never seen anything about Dayz on Armaholic or BI's website. Cali Posted May 30, 2014 Author Posted May 30, 2014 I find it fun, but I just started playing the other day. This is a game that I can actually play at night when the wife is sleep.....my computer is in the bedroom. She doesn't like it when the room is lite up like daytime from a 40" LED and I can't even talk to people on teamspeak. I've been killed twice by bandits and killed on person which I felt bad. I've played Arma for a few years off and on. I've heard mixed feelings on the standalone and mod, so as of now I'm playing the mod because it's free. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
Sceptre Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 I recommend playing with a friend online, always good to have someone to watch your back. RTX 2070 8GB | 32GB DDR4 2666 RAM | AMD Ryzen 5 3600 4.2Ghz | Asrock X570 | CH Fighterstick/Pro Throttle | TM MFDs | TrackIR 5

I play at random times so it's hard to tell someone to hop on and play. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
Zakatak Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 (edited) H1Z1 is looking a lot more hopeful than DayZ Standalone. Sony Entertainment has tons of funds and the developers for it are incredibly active with the community, especially on Twitch and Reddit. I imagine realism will suffer a little in transition, but I'll take that if I don't have to use the atrocious ArmA 2 engine. Anything but that poorly optimized, stiff and clunky engine with an awful UI. The Forgelight engine has proven it can handle hundreds or thousands of players on one map with Planetside 2, and they've supposedly optimized the graphics and net code. Cali Posted June 9, 2014 Author Posted June 9, 2014 I'll have to take a look at that. I only got DayZ because it is free. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
