Sceptre
I'm not too flash with computer hardware, so I came here for advice. I've been getting around 18-25 FPS while playing DCS World, especially in helicopters low to the ground. Even more so when I fire rockets at something or there are a lot of burning objects on screen. However, it's not so bad when flying the MiG-29 at high altitude, which is when I can get around 35 FPS. Is it a new video card that I need, if so, which one is best? (I mainly play DCS, but some newer games that I play are very harsh on the FPS.) My specs are below, and if there is any other information I can provide about my system that would help, please let me know. Thanks! Wolf Rider
1. you seem to be running ATI/ AMD, which has known issues with DirectX 9 at the moment City Hall is easier to fight, than a boys' club - an observation :P "Resort is had to ridicule only when reason is against us." - Jefferson "Give a group of potheads a bunch of weed and nothing to smoke out of, and they'll quickly turn into engineers... its simply amazing." cichlidfan
You might try updating your video drivers too, since they appear to be the ones that came installed on the machine 2.5 years ago. javelina1
Indeed, update your AMD/ATI drivers: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=123428&highlight=ati+drivers You'll get a bit of a boost from it. Scan about, and you'll see the install process. essentially: - uninstall the old drivers - use a cleaner to make sure everything is gone - install the new AMD drivers MSI MAG Z790 Carbon, i9-13900k, NH-D15 cooler, 64 GB CL40 6000mhz RAM, MSI RTX4090, Yamaha 5.1 A/V Receiver, 4x 2TB Samsung 980 Pro NVMe, 1x 2TB Samsung 870 EVO SSD, Win 11 Pro, TM Warthog, Virpil WarBRD, MFG Crosswinds, 43" Samsung 4K TV, 21.5 Acer VT touchscreen, TrackIR, Varjo Aero, Wheel Stand Pro Super Warthog, Phanteks Enthoo Pro2 Full Tower Case, Seasonic GX-1200 ATX3 PSU, PointCTRL, Buttkicker 2, K-51 Helicopter Collective Control

shagrat
If I noticed correct your graphics card has only 1GB video RAM onboard, what causes performance issues when loading lots of objects and textures at low altitude or near airports or large cities. 2GB video memory for the card is minimum on higher settings. Though I would recommend to wait until after the release of EDGE, before buying a new graphics card. We don't know what will be best for EDGE, yet. Sceptre
Thanks, updating the drivers gave me the boost I was looking for to land at big airfields like Tiblisi without the game dropping to single digits. I can now get a constant Frame rate of about 33. Hopefully EDGE will have better optimization and runs smoother.
