Tank?

I just bought CA. I am confused, I thought ca was tank and artillery. Every time I try to start a mission my a/c are my options. Oh my head hurts. All the videos of CA are people in tanks.

Was this in the editor? make sure you add ground commanders to your side and make the ground units controllable.

The way you access ground units is a bit different. You need to enter a ground commander slot (there's another type of slot as well - the name escapes me) then go into the F10 view, select a controllable unit and click Me at the top and you should be dropped into the unit.

Think of yourself as the commander of all forces, with the ability to take over the body of some of the various combatants under your command. :)

You can. I set up a fast mission where blue was invading Gudauta or something. Parked my UH-1 and took over a tank and ignored everyone but myself. It was more fun than I thought, this was pretty much the first sort of serious attempt to play CA that I made.

you can, sort of, with a JTAC slot.

It is more in the direction of a Real Time Strategy with the option not only to direct and watch, but also control the units directly.

You can though simply get into a single Tank or armed vehicle, and play from there in 3rd person.

A thing you must try is SAMs!!! You can control a SA-15 Thor or a SA-8 OSA and engage aircraft... and new since 1.2.8 take an IGLA or Stinger hide around a corner and wreak havoc on Helis or low and slow planes :D
