  1. Actually, I find the Steam forums FAR more polite than the usual company forums who are dominated by a few moderators and fanboys. With Steam, you can complain to Steam moderators, if the forum moderators ( who are usually hired by the game company ) start abusing their power and trying to ban any complainers. Arma forums come to mind. If Dwarden had his way, almost everyone would have been banned by now. And sadly, I agree, I think Razbam is gone.
  2. Don't sweat it. Its just the usual forum fanboy's screaming that you can never say anything is wrong with whatever company they worship. Seen the same on Arma and FO forums. I just ignore them. If the company doesn't deliver, or tell us they're still alive after not posting forever, they are eventually forgotten, and I think about giving my hard earned cash to someone else. I don't "support" ANY company, ever. I get so tired of people saying "I bought this module that I don't want just to support blah blah company". Thats stupid. My money goes to the company that makes something I like, and first off keeps up communications and listens to its customers. If they don't, I go looking to influence other companies to make what I want. Hence, my ( and many others ) leaving Arma. They didn't listen, and a new COD clone was born.
  3. Nvidia. Your CPU looks like the bottleneck. Go 4770k.
  4. Steel Beasts, eat your heart out!
  5. Wonder what happens to cows when they get hit by a couple of rounds of 30mm? Guess we'll find out!
  6. Wait for EDGE. Should be out soon. Hopefully, we will get mod tools and/or DCS will start making vehicles and infantry. We also need better netcode. Then we can attract FPS players and get some REAL MP going! There just aren't enough people interested in Flightsim Only. And people is what we need!
  7. I hope so. That picture of the grassy road is really nice. I would say at the Arma 2 level of graphics. If you guys could stick in some simple vehicles and infantry like in Arma 2, a LOT of Arma vets will be buying your sim. Later on, you can start making realistic vehicle modules of it, like M1A2 SEP :music_whistling: :D. Edit: And giving us mod tools will increase that influx of players ten fold. With all seriousness guys, we old Arma vets are REALLY looking for a new sim that will give us the realism we had with Arma 2 / ACE. A3 is a bad joke made to draw in the COD kids. I think you guys could make the next Arma, but FAR better.
  8. Yep, announcing lots of projects and then leaving people in the dark for long periods of time makes us think your gone.
  9. I believe they told ED that they wanted to release at the end of the month, which is this month.
  10. AGREED! Really hate when people try to compare realistic simulations to F$X.
  11. Yep, Arma II with the ACE 2 mod running puts some pretty realistic armor values on tanks and apc's. Found out that a .50 caliber round can pierce the old BRDM apc's, they have such light armor.
  12. As much as I like CAS, I hope you guy's get the Mirage out soon, as we don't have any realistic, fast / A2A type jets yet. If you can get just one real jet out, most of the board will be happy. I know the mig's coming out, but I'm hoping for something a little more modern like the Mirage-C.
  13. A good first step towards infantry / vehicle simulation. Across the vast terrain of the Black Sea map, good air lift transportation of troops and vehicles is REALLY needed. If Arma 3 was good for anything, it was good for teaching how much you need the above in a BIG map. Lol, didn't see the first posts were over a year old, but still, a good subject for near future EDGE maps.
  14. +1. Its still just Arma. Nowhere near a flight simulator.
  15. Whats your FPS when it isn't 7-8? Sounds like your machine is choking on something. Don't know about the motherboard, but I hear R280x is a decent card. Truthfully, I stay away from AMD. Your config looks like it would run ok on that card though. 512 res and medium shadows shouldn't make it sweat. I have Nvidia 770 and Intel CPU. Runs like a charm at all high.
  16. Aww, I thought someone had found an Easter egg! I would think you would know where your friendly forces were ( hopefully!). Every unit should have one of those coded radios that places them on your TAD display.
  17. Its because its just flight sim (don't take that personally, Jet Jockeys, I have a few modules myself). Only so much you can really do with that. I am sure when they build more detailed maps with EDGE, and bring in vehicle modules and infantry, you will find a LOT of old Arma players come in. I'm one of them. The new Arma that has come out is nothing more than a watered down version of COD within a vast barren desert. We Arma players are frustratedly waiting for something to replace our old beloved Arma II, and DCS World looks like it could very much be what were looking for. I think a Steel Beasts like simulation could be put into the game without sucking up too much more power. I'm sure the flight model calculations and the very complex cockpits in the aircraft take up much more cpu power than a tank / apc / infantry module would. And after all, DCS was made for high end computers. The biggest challenge looks to be fixing the horrible net code.
  18. Yeah, we DEFINITELY need some new netcode.
  19. Nice Steel Beasts battle video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3eUvBiyzFG4 This is the level we need in Combined Arms, but also being able to control an infantry soldier as well (FPS). Like the terrain. I know we could do this in DCS with the new EDGE engine. Imagine this battle happening in the DCS World, but with DCS Warthogs and heli's coming in to the battle as well. Just think if the Iraqi's had had Black Sharks in the second Iraq War... :music_whistling:
