ENO Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 (edited) Might be worth reapplying that DX9 redist... Possibly a removal, redownload and reinstall of the FC3 module as well. We're also learning that a reboot following these fixes works. These are things I'd be trying anyway... ED Team f-18hornet Posted July 5, 2014 ED Team Posted July 5, 2014 I just found out it could be because of inputs folder in saved games folder from the past. This was only one folder I didn't delete. Denco Posted July 13, 2014 Author Posted July 13, 2014 (edited) Well sadly for me nothing fixed the issue. After reinstalling my windows and downgrading my drivers to 331.60 the freezing issue still remains. Funny thing is I can close it down trough the task manager but I will continue to have freezes every 5 seconds on my desktop ( this is caused by cpu spikes in NT Kernel & System process ) until I restart my computer and considering I've tried the game on 3 drivers now and a fresh win install I can't blame anything else but my gpu. Either that or 1.2.8 is incompatible with 780ti. How can I downgrade the game to test the previous version? ED Team f-18hornet Posted July 21, 2014 ED Team Posted July 21, 2014 After some testing I have best experience with this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2665946 I had only once "wanna be freeze" after 10-20 minutes of flying but application did freeze just for 5 seconds or so and then I could go back to the game with no application crash. After that I had at least eight flights without any issues. Time at pictures is real time of game play and no time warp was used. It is not perfect but better than nothing. PE_Tigar Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 I've installed a manufacturer's utility for my graphics card (Gigabyte something something) and set the fan RPM to manual (it lets you set up step increases for fan speed based on GPU temperature). I've played for about an hour yesterday and no problems so far. I did notice that the fan was really sluggish on auto in idle - maybe the problem is in GPU switching fan speeds back and forth based on 2D-3D transitions (that happen quite a lot in DCS - launcher, 3D part of the sim, than launcher back again, than F10 map view, etc...), and than it just misses the switch to higher RPM at some point...

Denco Posted August 6, 2014 Author Posted August 6, 2014 (edited) I see that there are other 780ti users who are experiencing the same issue. I find it strange that increasing the fan speed fixed the freezing for some of you. Using Afterburner to check my temperatures and it never went above 70. Considering DCS is a simulator it makes sense since all of the sim are more cpu dependent. Anyway I'm still waiting for my card to arrive back from RMA. I've upgraded to that same GPU (I think even the same card) and have the exact same thing happening. I've turned off hyperthreading in BIOS and the frequency of freezes decreased, but they're still there. Have you tried other games. Try Metro LL or Rome 2. I've experienced a lot of driver crashing in those games. Also try 3DMark 11. tango4 Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Hi everyone, If anyone is still monitoring this topic (especially Denco), I also have this issue. I have a Gigabyte GTX780Ti as you and have those freeze. After a random amount of time, I go from 60fps to either 20 fps (with grapics card core freq locked at around350MHz) or, more frequently, to 1 or 2 fps. I have to completely reboot my system to regain control, as I also have one or two fps in windows. This has been driving me nuts for months, so if anyone has a solution or explanation, I would be really grateful ! I have placed a support ticket with DCS, but for the moment, no solution. Please note that my graphics card does not seem to be overheating, and that I don't have crashes with FSX, P3D or Xplane10. I already tried reverting my cpu to factory clocks, but it did not help either. Best regards everyone. Charles

tango4 Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Hi Atalia, and thanks for you answer. Actually, I did downclock the GPU, but I did not do it in a very thorough way, and now that you talk about it, I only turned down core clock, and not memory clock. So it might be worth a try. I have a Gigabyte GTX780Ti factory overclocked. Do you think I should downclock it to a factory Gtx780Ti non OC, or even lower to a regular GTX780 ? And is MSI Afterburner ok for it or is is there a better tool that you would recommend ? Anyway, thanks for having taken the time to answer me. Charles
