Pandacat Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Just wonder if anybody else has this issue. When I turn my head around to face the rear of the cockpit, z-axis got reversed (leaning away from the cam, you zoom in while leaning toward cam you zoom out). Unlike other sims such as BMS and il2, manuver your head into desired viewing position is extremely difficult and awkard. I do have my trueview on, and the problem still persists. I remember back in FC2, I had the similar issue and I had to tweak something to have it fixed. Also, is there a bug report thread somewhere?
jib Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 there is a tickbox option in the tracckir software, I think it is call trueview. i believe it fixes this issue. Abburo Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 There is no bug, but only settings. As Jib mention use the "trueview" option to adjust your movement curves or linear settings (according with each axis). SharpeXB Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 Check the mapping of the TrackIR in the DCS control settings. It sounds like your Z axis is set to zoom instead of actually moving your head in the Z axis. i9-14900KS | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | 64GB DDR5 5600MHz | iCUE H150i Liquid CPU Cooler | ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 4090 OC | Windows 11 Home | 2TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe | Corsair RM1000x | LG 48GQ900-B 4K OLED Monitor | CH Fighterstick | Ch Pro Throttle | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR 5
Pandacat Posted July 10, 2014 Author Posted July 10, 2014 there is a tickbox option in the tracckir software, I think it is call trueview. i believe it fixes this issue. As I said in my original post, I do indeed have Trueview on.
Pandacat Posted July 10, 2014 Author Posted July 10, 2014 Check the mapping of the TrackIR in the DCS control settings. It sounds like your Z axis is set to zoom instead of actually moving your head in the Z axis. You mean don't set z axis on zoom but rather set it on "cockpit longitutive axis"?
jib Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 You mean don't set z axis on zoom but rather set it on "cockpit longitutive axis"? Yes that is what he means. Having the zoom on z axis is a bit weird I tent to have zoom mapped to buttons on my hotas with modifiers. Art-J Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Same problem here. TrueView is on, there are no TiR axis assignments in DCS (apart from pause and center buttons) and as soon as I rotate my "virtual" head, its front-back and right-left movements do not follow the "real" one, which leads to silly reversal situations as Pandacat described in his first post. Can it be fixed somehow, or is it a permanents issue of DCS itself (in other sims I fly, head movement works as intended)? i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
Magician Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Yeah, you pretty much have to think ahead to look around the side of the seat behind you (like at the fuselage tank fuel gauge), and shift to the side before you turn your head. Otherwise it is majorly confusing. And it only gives a very limited side to side range when looking to the rear for some reason.
Pandacat Posted July 19, 2014 Author Posted July 19, 2014 Changed it to longetative axis. It works better now. But the movements still don't feel as fluid as in other sims such as il2 and bms. I wish I could post a video but I don't know how to record ingame video.
