The_Nephilim Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Hey Guy, Now I would post a screenshot but before I do can someone go in the SU-25T and be on the Runway Any Runway and just be looking Forward I am trying to determine if my Graphics got screwy or something.. What I think is happening which I first noticed last weekend so it is NOT the fault of the patch as it happened both Before and still after Patching.. Like I was saying what is happening before I used to see the runway centermakrker lines All the way down the runway, but Now I barely see the one off the nose of the plane and after that they sort of disappear?? I Wass asking HomeFries and he said he sees the Runway Marker lines all the way down.. So something is amiss and I am unsure I just would like to see a screenshot of someoenelses view.. Now I am Maxed on all the graphics except Water, and medium shadows all else is maxxed.. I Am unsure what I changed or what got changed for this too happen but when I look out it seems like a shorter distance to where the graphics are clear.. I am running the latest DCSW 1.2.9.xxx and a i5 with a P8Z68V Gen/3 Motherboard with Win 7 64bit all updated.. NVidia eVGA 590GTX 327.23 drivers, Please don't ask me to update, as it is not a driver issue.. So Please let me see a screenshot of your View in a SU-25T ON the Runway Parked and lined up on the centerline.. Also if you coulkd set your View Distance to Max.. Thank You. Mustang Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Please show us a screenshot of this problem, i'm guessing it might be something to do with your texture quality or mipmap settings in your videocard controls.
The_Nephilim Posted July 28, 2014 Author Posted July 28, 2014 (edited) ok here are some screenshots of settings.. and my Full System Specs to Follow: [/url] 1. Asus P8Z68-V Gen3 Motherboard all updated drivers.. 2. Intel i5 3570K 3. eVGA 590GTX SLI 327.23 drivers.. 4. RocketFish 7.1 Soundcard latest drivers.. 5. 3 - Acer X1261P DLP Projectors.. 6. Corsair Force 3 SSD 7. 1TB Barracudda HDD Storage.. 8. BD Rom 9. DVD/RW Drive.. All my Drivers are upto date except the Video Drivers. these video drivers are the last good known drivers that work with F4 BMS and 3D Vision.. Now I really did not do much. I was just changing settings in DCSW Options screen like Textures and such, I believe I made NO changes in the LUA Files other then a FOV MOD but I did that Months ago and never had this problem up to about a week ago.. I use a TARGET PRofile for my Cougar HOTAS Made by HomeFries which uses custom LUAs but that is about all I touch in the LUA files?? I also use nThsuim with my Setup for the Curved screen warping but I been using that since DEc 2013.. other then that no changes other then with the video settings in the Options screen in DCS Trying to get the VRam usage corrected.. I was going over my 1.5gb limit and was tring to see what to do to reduce the vRam usage..DxDiag.txt Edited July 28, 2014 by The_Nephilim Intel Ultra 265K 5.5GHZ / Gigabyte Z890 Aorus Elite / MSI 4070Ti Ventus 12GB / SoundBlaster Z SoundCard / Corsair Vengance 64GB Ram / HP Reverb G2 / Samsung 980 Pro 2TB Games / Crucial 512GB M.2 Win 11 Pro 21H2 / ButtKicker Gamer / CoolerMaster TD500 Mesh V2 PC Case
NoJoe Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 The last screenshot of the Nvidia control panel shows your Anisotropic Filtering is set to off. I'd bet that's what's causing the blurry runway textures. Try turning it on and see if that helps. [EDIT] To add, Anisotropic Filtering makes textures more crisp when they're viewed at a low angle (such as the runway as seen from the cockpit), and they'll have almost no impact on performance at all. I'd recommend setting AF to 8x at least. I don't think your 590GTX would have any trouble with 8x.
Highwayman-Ed Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 What NoJoe said, set the AF setting as high as you can, frame rates permitting. The_Nephilim Posted July 28, 2014 Author Posted July 28, 2014 Well I never used AF before, could it be something else.. I will try but not having used it before not sure why it would be a problem all of a sudden?? EDIT: I tried AF and it seemed to have helped but they are still a bit blurry?? diveplane Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 setting aa and af will tax u in frame rates, also depends on cpu speeds and video card power. https://www.youtube.com/user/diveplane11 DCS Audio Modding.
The_Nephilim Posted July 30, 2014 Author Posted July 30, 2014 Well the Mystery is solved and I found the cause.. Now either it is an oversight or an ingenius design.. What is happening I use the Joystick to be able to move the FOV in and out, Well turns out the further I set the FOV the distant Objects get smaller.. So say I am zoomed in at 80degrees and looking into the distance through the HUD if there is a Building in the distance it is tall, when I zoom out the FOV Changes as does the building it gets smaller until it disappears.. Now to me this is a bug and the distant Objects should not get smaller with a wider FOV as they should basically stay at a set height but this seems to have been overlooked by the community.. I can give screenshots of the examples but I think I made myself clear too what is happening and wonder if this is the way for a reason or an bug.. Wolf Rider Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 no, not bug... that's how FoV responds when shifting its value, using current technology, its a distortion and relayed by the fixed size of the monitor. The_Nephilim Posted August 3, 2014 Author Posted August 3, 2014 (edited) ok something else has to be amiss.. here is a Screenshot of a Frineds Game if you look down my HUD Screenshot that seems to be the trouble area.. My Friends screenshot you can clearly see the runway centerline markers.. here is my buddy screenshot note the centerline markers. the 1st screenshot is mine same mission same plane note the markers look fuzzy and the smoke from the plant is missing in the HUD View.. The_Nephilim Posted August 8, 2014 Author Posted August 8, 2014 well all that mod did was let the view distance be greater and it was broke with the new patch but it did not fix my blurry views.. Anyreason this is happening.. If you looked at the 2 screenshots it is tricky to see but if you look at the 2nd screenshot my Friends pic you can see clearly out to the 3rd runway center marker on mine it has disappeared and most of it is Blurry?? Wolf Rider Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 (edited) It (post #12) is the distortion created by going to much too wide a FoV, which you're seeing there... notice? the white zebra lines are curved Edited August 8, 2014 by Wolf Rider City Hall is easier to fight, than a boys' club - an observation :P "Resort is had to ridicule only when reason is against us." - Jefferson "Give a group of potheads a bunch of weed and nothing to smoke out of, and they'll quickly turn into engineers... its simply amazing." Wolf Rider Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 (edited) is it present (as it should be) at the default FoV? What is your Anisotropic setting in your VGA card's control pane? Wolf Rider Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 if you know what it isn't then (Aniso should be set to Application Controlled and Antialiasing Transparency set to at least 2x Supersample) then you'll really need to look back into what you (after re-reading back through the thread) changed... could be something as simple as an inadvertent typo made in an Lua, or projector setting (kudos btw, on running a curved screen :) ) City Hall is easier to fight, than a boys' club - an observation :P "Resort is had to ridicule only when reason is against us." - Jefferson "Give a group of potheads a bunch of weed and nothing to smoke out of, and they'll quickly turn into engineers... its simply amazing." fitness88 Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 (edited) I have the same problem and it just occurred with 1.2.10 Well I too had AF off. I turned it to 8x, the issue got totally corrected without a FPS drop. I then turned it to 16x, the clarity got even better still without a FPS drop. I can now see the center lines crisp and clear way down the runway where before I could barely see 1 blurry center line. Thank you NoJoe. Edited November 22, 2014 by fitness88
fitness88 Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Now I have it set to Application-Controlled and it works I think a bit more realistically.
