So I've just recently discovered the whole DCS world and loving it so far.

I do have the shame of shooting down one of my own wingmen in the Sabre during the mig sweep mission. Identifying a sabre/Mig 15 in the air is the hardest thing for me right now. I can't tell you the amount of times I've won an energy fight to get the pipper on the target only to spot the flash of yellow on the Sabre just in time. Just can't get my brain to examine the differences in tail first.

Luckily this is just a sim and no one died for real but I wonder if any friendly fire instances occurred during the Korean war?

Real world, if you're close enough for guns, you should be well within range to identify. In game it's much more difficult due to many variables (screen resolution vs. human eye resolution, limited contrast/colours, glare, etc..)

There's a discussion going on here about how to make DCS more realistic with regards to spotting/identifying. Feel free to vote and/or throw your opinion in.

If you can, check the MiG's elevators, they are high up on the tail, whilst the Sabre's are low........but still difficult I know.

No air-to-air friendly fire incidents but a helluva lot of casualties as a result of air-to-ground friendly fire in the Korean War.

Someone may have said this already but I was able to look for the soot trail and positively ID my wingman most of the time. I did put a few rounds into him early on, but luckily none of the planes seem to go down very easily except mine. I put some rounds into a MiG and quite a few into a Dora and have yet to shoot anything down except the transport.
