Avio Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 I already own the Ka-50 and Huey and am thinking of getting the Mi-8 too. Is there an English version cockpit in-game, like in the Ka-50? Is it easier to fly than the Huey, which can be a handful to handle at times? Is the documentation good, and is it in English? Thanks.

McBlemmen Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Its definately not easyer then the huey . In level flight in flies like a dream becouse of the auto pilot system , but when you start to maneuver.. especially during rocket and gun attacks she can start to fight back It's a very different experience from the huey. I dont know if you have rudder pedals or not , but i personally do not wich makes the MI-8 a little bit more enjoyable for me (becouse of the auto rudder.. dampening system or w/e its called)
NeilWillis Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Yes yes and yes... Search for English cockpit mod and the recent translation of the Russian manual You are wrong on 2 of those questions. Firstly, there isn't an English language manual. Second, there is no official English language cockpit. You have to come to this forum, and search for, then download a mod that was created by one of the contributors. As for buying the manual, I'd say yes, even though the support for this module is lacking - we're still awaiting essential components, 2 of which you asked about, but it still represents good value for money - especially in the current sale. I would however add the caveat that Belsimtek need to get their act together finally, and start to produce finished, fully functional modules instead of having 3 half complete beta versions and not finishing anything properly.

Slazi Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Mi-8 has been my favorite module for quite some time. Definitely worth it if you love flying helos. If you are only into combat, then perhaps not so much.
cheap charlie Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 I love this chopper! never flown one before or any other chopper but after years of flying PMDG tubeliners I thought I should try and broaden the horizons. 48 hours of flying with a break for a bit of sleep... and Im getting the hang of it. Love the way my Force feedback stick reacts to it as well and that nice CLUNK when trimming :joystick: PMDG was long over due for a break anyways :)
Vedexent Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 You're hardly going to get objective opinions here ;) However, I agree that the Mi-8 is very rewarding to learn to fly. It's big, it's not always cooperative, but it's fun :) As noted - there is no official English cockpit, and no English manual. However - the quickstart guide in English is enough to get you up and running with basics, and Youtube is replete with people having recorded short tutorials explaining many of the more advanced aspects. As for the English cockpit, I cannot recommend Devrim's Mi-8 mods highly enough. His English cockpit mod makes learning the systems so much easier for English speaking sim pilots, and I think the black cockpit mod, and the "cleaner windows" cockpit mod make the cockpit cabin much more enjoyable. They are not that hard to install, at all.
Rabbit_ Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Yes...buy it. And no, no english cockpit. Documentation is not ready yet. I know it's already a year, but....there is nothing we can do about it. :-)
BaD CrC Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Yes, if you are happy to fly this very complex and realistic aircraft without any manual, except one quick and dirty set of pages to quick start. https://www.blacksharkden.com http://discord.gg/blacksharkden
Avio Posted September 10, 2014 Author Posted September 10, 2014 I guess I'll stay with Huey and Ka-50 for now. These two alone are demanding enough in the learning curve!! Maybe later for the Mi-8.

IonicRipper Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 I would personally say no. At least wait for the completed version. For now it seems that the producers have forgotten about it and not much online servers have them. It doesnt even have a manual after a year which is a must for such a complex bird. i5 4590 @ 3.77GHz | GTX 1060 6GB | 16GB 1600MHz DDR3 | 1TB HDD+500GB HDD | Win10 Home X64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
