Once again, sorry for the inoperative sticks gents,

Nick

Uhh Cobra that sounds,.. oh well...

Seriously, thanks for the news, I imagine that you have a LOT of work, so thanks to keep everyone informed in just hours.

It flies so well...

Thanks for the news! Absolutely great how you care about it.

ED released the P-51D with no FFB at all back then and they left no words about it :D

You should be able to turn off the vibration by just turning down Shake in the DCS FF tune menu. This is on a per aircraft basis, so it doesn't affect other aircraft. No need to turn off FFB globally. It won't enable stick force (no spring force), but at least the stick won't rattle itself to death. And yes, shaking like that is very bad on the stick. These things are mostly just plastic bearing surfaces and they will wear out.

For those that don't know about the "FF Tune" menu.....

To do it from the main menu, go to

- Options -> Controls.

- Select MiG-21Bis.

- Select Axis Commands to show only the analog controllers.

- Select anywhere in the column for your FFB stick (or select JoyX or JoyY). This will enable the Tune FF button.

- Click Tune FF.

- Set Shake to 0.

You can do this while flying from the "Adjust Control" menu option when you hit ESC as well.

This FFB problem is not specific to any particular FFB stick. The FFB commands going to the stick appear to be screwed up for all FFB Sticks.

FYI, I'm using a Sidewinder FFB Pro with an Adapt-FFB-Joy USB adapter. Same problem as what everyone else reported.

Regards,

Mike

Thanks mate, the only I need to know if the module is playable disabling ffb or if the g940 can't be used to play the module atm.

:joystick:

Well ive made my first landing with it and didnt crash and didnt modify any settings. it just keeps vibrating a bit which is weird and is completely loose otherwise but its flyable. if you disabled vibrations and enabled centering force it would fly like any nonffb ac does.

Fixed in latest internal build.

Hopefully a fix will propagate soonest.

No problem. Thanks for taking good care of us. The Mig is so awesome ! It's my new primary aircraft. First one since Falcon AF :)

Thanks Cobra, hope this night I can fly it with ffb enabled. One question completely off topic.. are all the cockpit buttons planned to be working ? Yesterday I found a lot that aren't, when I was expecting a complete simulation of all systems ( or most of all )

cz_jc : If you modify the ffb parameters in the windows controllers page, you can achieve to eliminate the loose of the stick, it works for me.

Any news on this? please, don't wait to the next patch. Simply post here what we need to change to solve it.

Hey guys,

This is a fix that is located in the core code components. We will be working to provide a hotfix update to you soonest.

With regards to all buttons: Some are not simulated. E.g. the seat raise/lower button on LV panel, or e.g. the circuitbreakers. We've decided to omit some things in order to focus on greater fidelity in other components.

Thanks Cobra for your reply, I've read your other post where you say that we have the fix in the next patch, but why can't simply upload the modified files and let us to copy on our installation folder at our own risk ? I write this because I was waiting for your module for more than a year and now I can't enjoy it properly, so if you have the problem fixed.. why wait for the patch ?

Regarding the buttons, I understand your arguments, but if you can implement these buttons in the future it would be great for immersion, is not very pleasant to have switches that can't switch :megalol:

The broken FFB support is frustrating, so no refuting your comment. In the mean time, disabling the shake as I posted in a previous message, and using simFFB to enable damping force and a mild spring is still very immersive. The stick doesn't change with trim input, or according to speed and stall characteristics, but simFFB still gives it a realistic feeling of resistance and motion. In fact, DCS really should implement the feel of simFFB as a feature, but that's another topic.

You can download simFFB here:

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=84883

Or specifically from this post:

http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1394206&postcount=18

or for Logitech G940 to fix a minor problem

http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1628706&postcount=43

Just copy the simFFB.exe to a convenient place (no installer, just run the .exe) and double click it.

It's a bit of a pain to use because you have to load DCS (start a mission in MiG-21Bis), then Alt-Tab to simFFB, go to Options and click on "Init DirectInput" (this enables the effect for your FFB stick), then Alt-Tab back to the sim and fly. simFFB takes over FFB control from DCS and at least makes it so your stick isn't just loose and floppy. Again, it does not perform active effects using information from DCS. It just provides a very realistic mild spring with dampening and friction (all adjustable). It's the dampening that is the big difference.

It is quite nice in fact, and if you use it, you may find when they actually fix the FFB bug, you'll miss not having simFFB's effects active. All FFB implementations should have friction and dampening effects like this. Now that I have tried simFFB, I may be hard pressed to go back to DCS FFB effects to be honest.

To Leatherneck Software, excellent work on MiG-21Bis! Best jet sim in DCS. Thanks!

Mike

Thanks mate, I'm going to give it a try to see how it feels. I was using simFFB time ago when the ka-50 trimmer don't works without it.

After "playing" a bit with simFFB yesterday I manage to flight a bit better, but as my opinion the g940 without FFB can't be compared with a spring joystick and lacks a lot of precision. So Cobra, I still here, willing to serve as your free flight system tester.. please, share the files that fix the ffb and I kindly test for Leatherneck Simulations glory !! :pilotfly:

Hi, Friends...I`ve got the G940 too...

left ALT+Left SHIFT+J... if I remember well... toggles FFB on and off...

when turned on the joy keeps buzzing, but you have no feedback...

when turned off... no buzzing and no FFB... in both cases it`s quite weird, hard to control the plane...

but anyway, we can have a taste of this fine sim... till they find the way out of this problem...

This is another beautiful sim.

Great thanks to the developers for it.
