You should look for RSBN/PRMG not DME. The picture you show presents RSBN distance indicator. Read page 54-55 ("Course system"), whole chapter 9 "Navigation" from page 102 to 125 and maybe

. This is a study sim - you really need to dig into the manual m8. :)

Hi, guys!

I figured out why the RSBN/PRMG is not working. The RSBN/PRMG won't work because the engine is not running. I thought the APU will power the RSBN/PRMG. I think the APU doesn't enough power to power the RSBN/PRMG. Now I know I got to get the engine running before the RSBN/PRMG will work.

There's no Apu on this plane. You have only DC Battery Backup and I don't know exactly what is driven from that, gonna look that.

Say what?

I think that the power system of the Mig-21 cannot really handle running everything off just the battery. Many of the systems NEED the power produced by the engine. I think that's also why the startup procedure in the manual says not to jump ahead and flip switches while the engine is going through it's spooling up procedure.

I don't think that's an actual APU, probably a slight mistranslation. I think it helps start the engine, but it's not a little power-providing engine like we're used to. I could be wrong.

Yep, probably a misleading translation. Funny thing is, cockpit description in the manual describes this switch as just the "Engine startup system", which is indeed a rough translation of russian "agregat zapuska".

Regarding that, does it have to stay on after engine start? The start up tutorial doesn't mention it, but...

According to startup table, it switches off automatically after engine reaches idle RPM. I never checked, however, if the switch flips itself back to default position or not.
