Working on it - is my first skin for DCS though and I need to figure a few things out.

At first I thought the spec / normal map was already a .dds so I didn´t change anything which was actually my fault as I didn´t realize that they were in .psd :doh:

 

Converted them to .dds and it´s working now :)

 

Here´s one more with activated weathering:

 

Still need to tweak a lot of things but I think I´ll get there.

Thanks for your feedback - I had different references and it was a bit hard to tell the right tone of the red.

I finally used the red which was provided in the color palette in the template.

 

If anyone knows the exact RLM color for this red I would be happy to change it though.

Hi Golany, looks pretty good for your first Skin! I see you did not implement the swastika..why not?..and tha black lines on the rudder junctions semm a bit overdone...it looks a bit like painted..maybe also a bit more wathering..especially on the white parts..but it is a bit hard to judge because the Screenshots are quite small..anyway keep up the great work:thumbup:

Shame there is no tropical air filter, but nice job, and yes, please do the swastika properly. I can't see why an innocent symbol has caused so much controversy - despite the past.

Thanks JST for providing the RLM number.

 

The swastikas are in the skin - I just deactivated it for the screenshots as there were some recent complaints.

 

There will come 2 description.lua files with the skin - one with activated swastika and one without.

So anyone can choose how to use it.

 

Lizzard - do you mean the distances between the rudder and the fixed counterparts? These are actually shadows but may look a bit dark as the insides are a darker color. Not sure if these edges were painted as well or if they just were unpainted showing the underlying material.

As for the dirt I also thought about adding a bit more weathering.

Yap that is what I meant..but in the bigger Screenshot it looks better. Here is a Pic of a scale model..there this part is also pretty dark:) And yes..more weathering..the bird serverd in the Dessert:pilotfly:

I´m using the original RLM colors - I´ll change the red of the rudder as this isn´t the correct RLM in the screenshots.

 

Otherwise keep in mind that colors may look different under different conditions (lighting, photo vs. screenshot, etc. )

Looking excellent. Just tell everyone that the swastika is a Bhuddist symbol, and that it is there for religious reasons, and has absolutely nothing to do with the Nazis.

It's okay to play with shading in your colours btw, distance or weather has more influence on it than one might think!

I did some more work with weathering and dirt and changed the rudder to RLM23- here is an update:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Gonna tweak it a bit more and I also need to take care of the seems (prop and between bottom / side fuselage).

 

I´ll keep you updated :)
