So I've finally scraped and saved to buy the Warthog and rudder pedals. I've read that the CH pedals are like tanks and never break, but they "appear" to be very close to each other to me. I'm hoping to get feedback from you experts on three of the rudder pedals that seem to be the highest quality.

CH Pro Pedals: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000512IE/ref=pd_luc_rh_bxgy_01_04_t_lh?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (Seems to be the best bargain given the longevity reports I've read)

Saitek's Combat Pedals: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004ING996/ref=pd_luc_rh_bxgy_01_01_t_lh?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (I like the idea of adjustability, and they're further apart which seems a little more closer to how I naturally sit)

Or the MFG Crosswinds: http://mfg.simundza.com/mfgcrosswind.php

I probably "shouldn't" invest in the Crosswinds, but if they're the creme de la creme, I can eat ramen for a few weeks to justify the purchase :megalol:

I appreciate any and all feedback, even if it's anecdotal "this just felt better to me". It's still a data point, and I value all data points.

First off, congrats on the new equipment.

I've got the CH pedals, couldn't tell you about the others (though I wish I could in the case of those Crosswinds, they just look incredible). You're right, they are a bit close together, but I've found it's something you adjust for without even noticing. They're sturdy, accurate, and do everything you need a set of rudder pedals to do and it does all of it at a good savings over the competition. I've had my pedals for a couple years now and they're still working perfectly. The neutral position is good and noticeable without making fine control around it too difficult and the centering spring (or whatever is in there making it return to the middle) hasn't noticeably weakened. I'm very happy with these pedals, and even though they're not the top of the line like my TM Warthog, they complement it very nicely.

If anyone can share about those MFG Crosswinds I'd like to hear about that too, though I don't think I'm in the market for one of them for a long time with these CH pedals.

CH pedals work fine for me. I've had them for almost 7 years. Sorry I can't comment on the others.

Thanks for the info you two. Do either of you fly with the stick between your legs? It seems like how close the pedals are together may limit your stick's maneuverability if you do an extension mod and fly with the stick between your legs.

I have my stick center mounted and use the Saitek combat pedals. I am quite happy with mine as well but they are the only ones I have ever owned.

CH Pro pedals here... I can't comment on the others, as these are all I've ever owned, but I'm happy with them. pyromaniac4002 nailed all the selling points, so I won't repeat what he's already covered.

If i am not mistaken are the saitek Combats the same as the Saitek pros but with metal pedals? I own the Saitek pros with my Warthog and they seem to work just fine and dandy.:)

At least internally, AFAIK, they are the same.

Ohh...then it sounds like, as long as I'm not stepping/stomping on the pedals, I could go with the cheaper Saitek pedals if I want the extra distance. Is this a correct assumption?

It is also a little about how you use them as well. The regular Saiteks look like you want to rest your whole foot on them, like the CH. With the combat pedals, my heels are on the floor (pedal base) except when I slide them up to use the brakes on the ground. To me that seems more comfortable, but then I have never used the non-combat version or the CH.

I had the Saitek Pro paddals. About a year ago I switched to the MFG Crosswinds. I love them.

They have great bearings which allows fine and smooth controll. You can adjust a lot of stuff, like brake paddal force, brake paddal angle, recentering force and even whole recentering profiles, which change how big the centering force is over the range of defflection.

They are pricy, the wait time is long, but they are probably the best paddals out there and they are definatelly recommended.

I had the CH pedals for several years. They work great. The only issues I ever had was an occasional recalibration...usually after doing ROF for a while. I have sinse upgraded to MFG Crosswind pedals (and I do mean upgraded). There is no comparison between the two pedals. The precision, feel, looks, and support that Milan provides makes them top notch pedals.

I also use the MFG Pedals. It's from the very first production run ,many minor improvements have been made since then to the later production runs. They are in heavy use for more than a Year and are going like on the first day I got them. Best money I've ever spent on Flightgear, personally I rate the quality higher than the Thrustmaster Warthog.

I've used Saitek Pro pedals for a while, they are not bad and liked by a lot of people for a reason. Later I got the now out of production Simped pedals,it was a slight step up from the Saiteks. The MFG outclasses both by far in any aspect. Sure, the price is steeper and the waiting time might be a while...but well worth it imo if you can justify spending the money on flight gear.

I'd also say,it depends on what you fly and if you need to use the pedals often, like in Propeller planes or only occasional like in Jets.

Dunno, never had two sets, but my Saiteks work fine although the centrally mounted stick question is very valid to consider and also consider your personal body size and shape.

I saw a post where the internals had snapped on a Saitek during storage. I'd suggest normal use will be covered by warranty even if you were unlucky.

Pedals are generally overpriced for what they are due to them not being huge mainstream sellers.

I used to use the CH pro pedals with a Center mounted stick. The pedals are close together but I did not find it a problem with the center stick.

The CH pros are good and accurate enough and I had no problems with mine what so ever.

I now use the MFGs.

Apart from the fact that they are both pedals, there is no other comparison.

The MFGs are totally adjustable, totally smooth and very high precision bits of kit.

They are robust and solid. Cash for lifetime... I think the MFGs are the cheaper option.

Superb for choppers.
