So I excitedly unpacked a 2nd hand Warthog last night, but although the PC recognises it's there; it doesn't detect any inputs/movement.

Throttle seems to work fine; but not the stick. Any drivers I need to install, or otherwise?

Also, the stick has about a 20deg twist - is this normal?

Thanks

Because stick is twisting it's feels that you haven't installed stick like it's need to be. Yellow arrow at stick and text on big plate should point at you.

Check is stick attached to bottom of that oval counterpart and have you tighten gray "tensioner"...there should not be any twisting (well small one but not 20deg).

Thanks for the replies; no the grip is properly fitted, it's the gimbal that is twisting in the base.

yep...something is wrong...you said it was second hand..did you mean it is used stick..if so I hope you have deal to return it as NeilWillis said...or if you got it so cheap that you want to fix it by your self (if it can fixed).

New Warthog stick can be purchased separately...so that could be other way..

2 degrees of twist could be considered normal... not 20.

Only the black joystick is supposed to wiggle slightly, not the wheel below it or anything below the wheel.

:(

Absolutely broken. I sincerely hope you can recover your money.

ouch! did you open it up? I can't imagine there is anything to be lost at this point .... i'd crack it open to see if you can identify why it is twisting like that. Mine maybe twists a degree....

how the hell do people do that to sticks?????? i have this image in my mind of the same kind of guy who leans waaaay over when he needs to turn on a console game.... we all remember those guys.... :)

I don't lean on my Warthog but give me a 360 controller and look out!! :D

I have no idea why.

So following tjhowse's guide here, I dived in, and found that the inner ball has broken up, and the magnet had come away from stick base and was stuck to the hall sensor. I guess it's the inner ball that prevents twist.

That's awful, maybe you could contact thrustmaster and ask for a new gimbal assembly?

Unfortunately, that may be a dead end as, according to another member with a broken internal part, TM no longer has replacements available for some, or all, of those parts.

Maybe, but the design for fixing the grip onto the base relies on the same twisting force to secure it. If you're holding the base rather than the grip, it may have the same effect.

My TM Warthog is 2 year old and I always take of the grip and still so far so good.

But I think the TM made wrong choice to do metal construction with plastic gimbal.
