Hobbnob Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Hey guys, so I'm just finishing up a basic flight assessment mission on the Mi-8 and I was wondering if anyone would be interested in playing a mission where you're in an airshow? The mission would put you in an aircraft and you are given various aerobatic maneuvers to complete once you have taken off (maybe with a scoring system?) Let me know if it's something you guys would be interested in, and what aircraft you'd ideally do it in :)
steve2112 Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 hi, just saw this in a search. i'm very interested, i'm working on a mission now so i can fly an airshow circuit against an AI but would be cool to fly with real people one day. i'm still way too crappy by the way, it will take me a while to get blue angels level My kit: i7-4790K@4GHz / 8GB - GTX 980ti + rift CV1 - X52 pro - Multi Keyboard Remapper - 2DOF motion sim (in development)
Nealius Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 I've been doing airshow practice in the M2000 so I'm up for it.
javelina1 Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 It would be great if there were 4 aircraft already on the runway in the typical Thunderbird or Blue Angels line up. You select what position you want to fly (2,3,4) and work on the your skills of following the Flight Lead. This would also be great practice for formation take offs and landings as well. ^^^^ Yep! CoBlue Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 (edited) I'm very interested in aerobatics formation flying missions. Here's an aerobatics formation flying mission with Su-27 (change airplane if you want), chose the "client" that appears at mission start. (DCS v1.5.2) It's my 1:st try so don't expect much professionalism. You are nr:2, the leader will take-off fly back over the airfield, perform aerobatics & land, all you have to do is follow him. :music_whistling: If anybody have something to share or can refine my mission please post it.;) Edited January 7, 2016 by CoBlue i7 8700k@4.7, 1080ti, DDR4 32GB, 2x SSD , HD 2TB, W10, ASUS 27", TrackIr5, TMWH, X-56, GProR.
steve2112 Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 i just took a very quick look at flying with some of the built in aero stuff in DCS. i'm going to create a mission with those tools and see what happens. will post My kit: i7-4790K@4GHz / 8GB - GTX 980ti + rift CV1 - X52 pro - Multi Keyboard Remapper - 2DOF motion sim (in development)
steve2112 Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 (edited) the built in AI aerobatics don't seem to work well. i've attached a very simple mission, all the AI plane needs to do is fly 50m AGL in a straight line then do an aileron roll, but it flies all over the place for no reason, then crashes. anyhow, still looking into it, but it looks like the AI doesn't like low AGL flying at all. UPDATE, if i set 'start immediately' it works better. now have have the AI doing an aileron roll at 30m AGL. that seems to be as low as it will go. see a2.miz but then it does some wired stuff after the turn, not sure why yet. ANOTHER UPDATE so i have it doing a low alt aileron roll and a loop without crashing now. see a3.miz all my missions are in SU-27 using NTTR, if anyone wants me to post an example using the default terrain on 1.5 let me know this is really a good tool for practicing close formation aerobatics. i'm going to work up a full air show now then post when i'm donea1.miza2.miza3.miz Edited January 16, 2016 by steve2112 My kit: i7-4790K@4GHz / 8GB - GTX 980ti + rift CV1 - X52 pro - Multi Keyboard Remapper - 2DOF motion sim (in development)
steve2112 Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 so i've been working on a cool tool which will help people create aerobatic missions. it counts down times and distances, verbally, to any location so you can time your maneuvers to sync perfectly with an AI plane and/or other people. its working now on my computer but i want to put together a mini airshow demo first to show off its features before release. unfortunately, i have a paying job for the next couple of weeks so progress will be slow, but will definitely finish it.
