DB 605 Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 As I said, ED is looking at the sounds, but a recoding on a camera of unknown quality is different than a clean recording of the raw sounds. Is it so hard to admit that current DCS k4 sounds does not replicate DB605 very well? :D:D CPU: Intel Core i7-2600k @3.40GHz | Motherboard: Asus P8P67-M | Memory: Kingston 8GB DDR3 | OS W10 | GPU: Sapphire R9 290x 8GBDDR5 | Monitor: Samsung Syncmaster 24" | Devices: Oculus Rift, MS FFB 2 joystick, Saitek X 52 Pro throttle, Saitek Pro pedals, Gametrix Jetseat [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
ED Team NineLine Posted December 5, 2014 ED Team Posted December 5, 2014 Is it so hard to admit that current DCS k4 sounds does not replicate DB605 very well? :D:D Based on what, why is my opinion not worth as much as yours, because my forum name isnt the same as the engine? I like the sounds, I think they could use slight tweaking, but people saying they need to be scrapped and redone are crazy, I dont want some over the top hollywood sound... I trust ED with every aspect of the aircraft, sound is no different... Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**

Take it easy, i was joking :D Of course your opinion is as worhty as mine, and i don't want pretend to be any kind of Daimler-benz expert. I don't think current sounds need to scrapped and totally redone, they need quite lot's of tweaking and remix but i do believe proper sounds may be there under the other noise. It's just my honest opinion that i can't hear much similarity between current DCS and youtube video those fly-by sounds for example. I am not a sound expert, in fact my hearing may be damaged by years of loud obnoxious music. That said, I assume that you are not getting the true sound in a youtube flyby video, and this is all I am saying. there are distortions, pollution and such involved in those recordings, which is why most sound different from each other... I trust ED to give us the best sound, I bet it wont be what many expect it to be, but I feel some expectations are skewed by poor recordings... thats my opinion. Experiment, go listen to something fairly loud, at the same time record it... play it back, it wont be what you hear most likely depending on the quality of your recording and playback devices... Random Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 I'm sure a lot of the problem is that you simply cant replicate the sound of an engine because there are too many variables. They always sound flat in game as it usually seems to be simply RPM based. If engine load could be factored into the sound engine I think things would be a lot better. If as well as that we could have supercharger impellor RPM we'd have something much closer to reality. Now add in directional sound so it varies with angle and masking the sound when something is between exhaust stubs and your in game ear and we'd really be getting somewhere! I guess nobody wants all other developnent put on hold for years to rewrite the sound engine at that level of complexity though! I would like some whistling though when a 109 does a flyby!
SlipBall Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 I would like some whistling though when a 109 does a flyby! That file is in there but it is being covered over, maybe all that is needed is a tweaking of the volume levels...they are going to look at it they say, so could be good in time, or maybe a sound mod will become available sooner
nick10 Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 Also - would it really be possible to hear the p-51 engine from your K4 in a dogfight? I doubt it.

DB 605 Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 Also - would it really be possible to hear the p-51 engine from your K4 in a dogfight? I doubt it. No it would not. Only maybe if your engine is at idle and mustang would fly very close of your plane at full power... Daimler Benz is like a concert! Agreed there mate, i always got goosebumps from those videos :) Awesome sound! kripzoo Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 Last time i played in some multiplayer ww2 server, i was parked and engine off in my fw190. Some quy made fly by's over me with his K4 and that didn't sound nothing like v12 engine.. in fact it sounded more like a RC-plane :megalol: Yesterday played after long time some il2 46 with latest HSFX mod and damn, the daimler-benz even sounded something like real engine (external and internal)

ED said they will review the sounds, but for those of you who are hoping they will sound like a polluted youtube video, I doubt you will be happy, I am sure there will be mods. Solty Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 I am a P-51 fan. And I agree that Bf109K4 has the weakest sound ingame. I love low RPM IRL 109 and in DCS it feels lifeless. I agree with DB605. 109 has one of the best sounds of WW2 warbirds and that should be represented. At least we have diveplane. He does amazing job on making those things sound good.
