SimonColt Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 (edited) So I have purchased and installed MiG21Bis from the steam store, I started to mess around with the plane and I noticed few problems. So far I have noticed that the radar missiles and Grom missiles have broken textures. It looks something like this: I tried validating steam cache but the check didnt find any problems and no files were downloaded. Is there any other way I can try to fix this, except reinstalling? SimonColt Posted December 21, 2014 Author Posted December 21, 2014 Bump. Also restarting mission using shift + r can sometimes result in key bindings to not work and the sound is gone in F2 view.
zaelu Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Maybe if you give a repair to DCS World? Maybe something got screwed up when you installed it? SimonColt Posted December 21, 2014 Author Posted December 21, 2014 Maybe if you give a repair to DCS World? Maybe something got screwed up when you installed it? Dont think I can just "repair" if I downloaded it through steam. Like I said validating integrity of cache didnt show any errors so it didnt do anything.

Are you playing KSP? I strongly believe it's KSP texture ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] My DCS Mods, Skins, Utilities and Scripts | Windows 10 | i7-4790K | GTX 980Ti Hybrid | 32GB RAM | 3TB SSD | | TM Warthog Stick | CH Pro Throttle + Pro Pedal | TIR5 Pro | TM MFD Cougar | Gun Camera: PrtScn |
zaelu Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 I just checked on a game installed with seam and didn't saw "DCS_updater.exe". Maybe if you uninstall all the module from module manager? (if this doesn't work maybe just moving Mig-21Bis folder from DCS World\Mods\Aircraft\ to somewhere else on hard drive and then force a recheck via Steam? If fails you can put back the same folder to original location. edit uboats, what is KSP? Art-J Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 ^ Kerbal Space Program I presume :D. Simon, something definitely got broken in Your install. Just checked the tutorial mission with these missiles and they're textured allright. I have no idea how one can repair steam installation of DCS though. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
SimonColt Posted December 21, 2014 Author Posted December 21, 2014 I did what Zaelu suggested. I removed the mig21 folder from mods/aircraft, ran steam validation, which redownloaded the module. After starting the game and loading the AA Missile training mission for the first time, the textures were fine, I quit out to main menu to try the GROM missiles, they appeared broken, after going back to the menu again, and restarting the AA Missile training mission, those were broken again as well :S So the fix only worked for first start up lol I think I will just take this straight to DCS support.
joey45 Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Does it only do this in the trainning mission? The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. SimonColt Posted December 21, 2014 Author Posted December 21, 2014 Does it only do this in the trainning mission? No, it happens everywhere.
SimonColt Posted December 21, 2014 Author Posted December 21, 2014 Quick update, after submitting a ticket on the dcs page, they told me to go back here and ask a developer. So dev input pls? Ty vm.
Art-J Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Any other folks with Steam install willing to check it? The standalone version seems to be OK, I don't understand why there would be texture differences between the two (as long as version number is the same). i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
SimonColt Posted December 22, 2014 Author Posted December 22, 2014 No help on DCS Site, no help from Leatherneck Simulations on their site via contact form, no dev help here. Nice one guys. When people pay £30 for a single plane they expect quality and not screwed up textures and no support :D

We try our best. I also have to investigate why this is happening at all, this is the first time this issue has been seen. Cobra847 Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 Thanks! This seems to be an overlooked bug that is caused by LoDs' for weapons. The low view distance setting is likely causing this on your end. Will fix this for the next update! For now, you can fix it by increasing your view distance to 'Medium' Apologies for the inconvenience, Thanks, Nick 1 Nicholas Dackard Founder & Lead Artist Heatblur Simulations https://www.facebook.com/heatblur/

I've reported before that the problem was gone for the first mission launch I did after reinstalling, and I remember that just before loading that mission I changed graphical settings, one of them being view distance. Well good to know that this will be resolved during next update, gonna keep it at low anyway, my A8-3870K Quad cant really handle this game well rofl.
