damn..your distance render settings in the high.lua gave me 10 xtra FPS..never ever tried to tweak that..so thanks again Nico:thumbup:

My Specs:

I don`t care..it is a Computer..a black one..

I've installed your mod Dimitrov, very good improvement!

The lines that needed to be modified in High.lua 58 and 59 used to be 5.0 and 5.0 so the swapping would not be visible but that made the new textures not to be rendered with full resolution. With your settings works but there is a little visible flickering when the low LOD is displayed.

Also first time some buildings load their textures they (the buildings) flicker out of existence for a bit :) .

Yes yo used 3500 and 3000... I was saying I had 5.0 and 5.0 because it was suppose to remove the flicker... which it did but at the cost of texture quality.

I modified to 3500 and 3500 and it seems is not flickering anymore. Or is a placebo? :D

I hope it is ok, that I use this thread for a more general question...

Can someone give me an explanation for those values in the high.lua? E.g. what does townNearDistance, townFarDistance, distance10x10, distanceLevel0 or subforest mean? Further, the entries in the district block?

Thanks,

F4l0

Yeah... we should have a commented high.lua file with explanations.

distance10x10 I think controls the distance in Km at which the ground texture is clear and not blured with low rez noise.

Wow, to be perfectly honest, I just modified those lines cause there was written "near" something, and that with those parameters, it worked nicely...

I'll try to answer your questions this week-end, cause i don't have my PC this week, just a Mac without DCS and notepad++

Or just paste me on this thread the concerned lines.

Just a question, concerning the bridges and perhaps some currents and futurs buildings (I'm thinking to the bridges for example), do you think that adding some graffitis, with parsimony, could add some more authenticity ?

Or would it be preferable to keep some "blank" textures ?

I know it should be up to me to decide this, but, you are numerous to download and use this mod, so I need your opinion ;)

Depends on how often we look at them... if we look often enough to notice them then it might also get a bit repetitive... being few textures.

Some of the railway stations are good for graffiti cause they are a bit more rare.

There seems to be a bit of a flicker (change of texture) on the building that uses the Korpus file.

It looks like this:

Also... since we are at it... does anyone know why this thing flickers like this? What line in High.lua controls this?

Is a small block in Krasnodar... looks more like a village block than a city one...

Mmmh, For the first video it's probably because of a parameter in the .lua, but independent of the mod, i'll have a look at it this week end, it shouldn't be too hard to solve it...

For the second one, I don't know, I didn't notice such problem on my config, and the concerned buildings weren't even retextured. Are you sure it doesn't appear without the mod ? And is it limited to the external view or is that the same in a cockpit ?

edit : the first one one is for sure a .Lua issue, cause there aren't any kind of texture transition from this distance, try to modify the line 57 and switch it to 20 000, again I can't look at it during the week, cause I'm in my Studie's apartment, without the PC ;).

I checked again now and it is "korpus_b.tga.dds" file... Is not your modification, is true. I'm trying to find out exactly where it is on the "block_texture.bmp.dds file for far LOD. I've found it but the base of the building still flickers a bit.

edit

Is from this mod:

That line 57 have no effect on the small block that pops in and out of existence :D . Must be something else or a bug.

Ah okay, then anyway the korpus_b is on the list of the futures buildings which will be retextured for february... So don't spend time at touching it, it'll be reworked anyway...

Edit : just had a look at this one, it's precisly the first of my list ;)

I started mapping buildings on far lod. each one on different layer and with different color so it is easy to pick it up and modify. I merged your mod with the one of crazyeddie (some textures I really made them mixt... like roofs from crazyeddie and walls from yours) and I want to make the far lod as smooth as possible... so... :D

I'm sure you have one of your own but when I'm finished or I'm tired I'l upload it so you or others can use the template.

You wanna release that as a mod for the Arcade mode may be? It fits the colorful 'target markers'... :D No more dull grey cities...

Ok, in earnest nice idea and hope you guys keep up optimizing the buildings, really enjoying this mod.

the textures look like this:

and they are made by Dimitrov here, crazyeddie, I think also Mustang and Ricardo (buildings), DTAC, Barthek and T. Jacob the trees and terrain.

High.lua is "expanded" a bit also.
