mooshim Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 My question: Is this always supposed to cause a dip in altitude? Often I have dealt with it--but not always. It is the consistency specifically that I'm curious about. MTFDarkEagle Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 You mean that your nose drops? Yes - that is correct. The EAC system is disconnected - causing the nosedrop (if I recall correctly) Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
Fakum Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 I know I have read about this effect a couple years back and it always causes this. That is why I open the door, then trim out, then approach. Eddie Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 Sounds like you're approaching the tanker with Master Arm & Gun/PAC Arm still set. Both should be set to safe and you should be fenced out before you are approaching the tanker. As soon as you open the refuelling door EAC is disabled, which of course disables PAC which will cause the pitch up.
mooshim Posted December 26, 2014 Author Posted December 26, 2014 Aha So, to confirm, disabling master arm as well as returning gun to SAFE--will solve my pitch problems? Many thanks! I thought it was Bernoulli haunting me from the grave. ~Cheers, Moosh [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Win7 | Intel Core 2 Quad | Q8400 @ 2.66GHz | 2.67 GHz 3.37GB of RAM 60gig Samsung SSD| GTX 570 "Operation: Bull by the Horns" "Bull Run 2.0"

I wonder how hard it would be to modify the tanker pre contact call to include the "Noses Cold, Switches Safe" verbiage? Yurgon Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 I wonder how hard it would be to modify the tanker pre contact call to include the "Noses Cold, Switches Safe" verbiage? From a programmer's point of view, it can't be that difficult. But seriously, it should be self-evident to approach a tanker with all weapon systems safe; if the tanker had to tell pilots something like "Oh, and please don't accidentally blow me out of the sky", the pilots shouldn't be there in the first place. Yes, this is common in DCS and it happened to me several times, but I learned from my mistakes. If DCS was built in a way that it expected us to be as stupid as we often are, we wouldn't even be allowed anywhere near those planes. TL;DR: If we don't know how to correctly approach a tanker, why would this piece of information make it any better?
