Damn those engines :o cool as hell...

I wonder how it would look if you place a small cam in the cockpit, and in some crazy way fix so you can fly with an HOTAS :p hahaha, it would been better then Lock On...*maybe not

Dont forget that B52 scale model that crashed (was massive).

The pilots apparently lost control and it crashed and burned (I am sure someone will post the video below). Thinking about it now, I wonder if it was poorly controlled, or one of these were just out of view locking it up...

I fly conventional prop models and model helicopters, some club members have jets, they are impressive to watch, but tbh dont appeal to me much, a 4 foot model doing 300mph is very stressfull to control, you only gets seconds before you have to turn back towards yourself.....and repeat

The climbouts are very spectactular tho and the sound and smell is really like the real thing

oo err...missus:animals_bunny:

How about mounting wireless cameras inside the buble cockpit? You could controll the jet from a screen instead of having to watch it form the ground to controll it.

It could be done (and of course is with some uav), but you need a lot of support gear to get a reliable long range downlink and multiple cameras or downlinked instrument data for adequate S.A., in other words not cheap

the furthest I have got is adding a short range video downlink so I can aim the still camera on my model helicopter, it was just a cheap video sender and only good for about 500 metre range

To do things like that cheaper you need to be skillful in electronics and build them your self

Wireless cameras are widely avaiable. Linksys makes them and I have found several models on PC stores. The thing is to extend its range through a modifyed antenna to boost range. And I cant think of it being any more expensive than any other part of kit for making the plane. The price difference in the total is neglectable. If you are rich to make a plane like that you cana fford a wireless camera as well.

Like I said its cheap and easy to do short range, but a LEGAL and reliable long range downlink is not, try and get an insurer to cover you for a start (in uk you need insurance to use these things in public airspace, Technicly I even need it to fly my models and yes I do have it

Edit I know the legalities are not perhaps relevent to your point, but they are nonetheless a reality and a hinderance..it is tho as you not at all impossible
