Lol...Here I am again saying this for new gfx effects and features.

But I was watching random stuff at gametrailers.com and came across this::

http://www.armedassault.com/

This is what the engine needs to look like for a HELI sim . I am not asking ED to change everything...but I am saying that something that looks bland and pseudo like this is better than having ultra real gfx + not enough immersion factors.

Hopefully ED...you can implent skeletal anims for lomac 2 . This is what I call immersion ...:p....

nothing against anything that ED is doing now....I am just giving suggestions for the future direction that ED should go :)

go there and watch armed assault russian gameplay. :icon_supe

My guess is that it would be like if BMW would put Mercedes engines in their cars. They each make their own and people decide which to take.

It would be nice to have a perfect sim, but as i figured, ED is small and trying the best they can which is not easy without big players like Ubi or EA to support them where they need it most, so they need to make things for them selves and not buy them.

meh.. I don't know.. I was looking forwared to Armed Assault but I just watched the video. It just looks like a spangly version of OFP. I think in fact it's just supposed to be OFP 1.5 and the gameplay there just looked like OFP with some bumpmaps or sommat.

Maybe it'll be good, and yes, I loved helicopters in the first one, but I don't think that everything in OFP did chopper combat justice. The explosions for one just looked weak. The smoke also looks like someone grabbed a size 15 grey airbrush from paint shop pro.

Ahh, I'm just naysaying. I loved OFP, but maybe i'll wait before i buy.

But you can see 100 of them on the screen at a time. Try to do it in LockOn. And don't tell me that ground explosions in LockOn look much better. There's not even a significant diffrence.

I do agree that flight sim graphic needs to be improved, but I don't find armedassault anything special, maybe it's because my screen is too low rez so I can't see the deatils.

It seems that everyone is talking about next gen graphics ever since we knew about XBox360 and PS3, I am really looking forward to a serious combat flight sim (not arcade) which can utilize such technologies. (The next title of Microsof flight sim looks promising, but hey, it's not a combat flight sim)

OFP what a memories i have........ i have seen ... there is much more units whooo... :D this one would be a blast....:) :D any way i dont think that we could compare this two game. The action in lock on is mostly on the air a high detailed terrian would be nice but most of the time you won see it. Because you are on the air 2000 meters or nap of the earth in either cases you are going to fast or too high to see it well.

In armed assult is diferent the focus armed infantry, there you should have a highly detail terrain pleases were to hide look for cover and so. there you are a tropper on the ground that is why you need that detail. you will go inside houses and things are use the terrain for cover there a terreain like this make sense.

Something i would like from lomac 2 would be a terrain different than the crimea penisula the possibility to fly in other places differnt from crimea.

yeah! totally agree about the next gen thing. You gotta realise one thing when ppl compare lockon to MSFS X or x-plane. Those two engines have FM but NO modelling of radar or combat systems...thats where lomac engine is better. But we all know ....without knowing a single line of code....that ....firing A 10 rounds into the ground should NOT lead to fps slowdown :p...thats where we are asking ED to do modifications,....and also try to add the infantry to take full advantage with a heli sim.

ED...if it takes 1 more year to release black shark...but u can add infantry and speedtree and little updates to the ME.....I am ready to wait and so will the others here. :D

When will ARMA finally come out? in 2007? they "promised" it for like 2 years, and still no release date/hope. :(
Perhaps you should inform yourself. The BIS site states H1 2006.

First ArmA screenshots are less than a year old, afaik. Where did you get the "2 years" thing?

Don't forget they're also working on Game 2.

Well, it's an improvement on Battlefield 2, where you can 'fly' (I use the term loosely) from one end of the map to the other in 15 SECONDS!

Exactly,

When flying @ Mach 2.3+ it could be in less than 4 seconds.

With this kind of detail on lomac terrain scale, lomac 2 should be sold in a 10 DVD pack.

10 HD-DVD pack you mean.

And those "release dates" mean nothing, last year it was "Q2 2005"... And I've heard nothing on the development of "game 2" (I know they can't use OPF anymore due to legal reasons), seems like they're keeping the lid on the info quite well.

well..my point about those screenshots wasn't exactly the same kind of detail. I know what you mean about a fps difference to lomac...My point here is that we do not need to have rooms in the building modelled....its about the trees and general scenary. And most of all....above the trees and those beautiful buildings....I would not mind having infantry. Now thats a battlefeild....we need infantry.....get on the mature....T rating......we need infantry in a battlefield....terrorists, ghost recon, what ever..:p....I don't mind as long as there is moving cylinder's in shape of a human firing a small ak-47 at me in the Ka-50. :p

If i remember from the write up, there's many improvements, in armed assualt. AI is still the best around, but i suspect it will be improved. They speak of a terrain with greater land area than all the original islands together, and a streaming technology allow full movement without noticable loading. Also, like lomac, you'll be able to jump in and out of a multiplayer server.

All in all it has the making of anothe 'best' fps war simulation game. I for one have my money saved already...

I agree that the low-altitude OFP/AA screenshots look better than LOMAC low-altitude screnshots.

However LOMAC absolutely excels on middle and hight altitude screenshots over any engine I saw. Any mid/high altitude screenshots for OFP/AA I saw were not nearly as impressive as those in LOMAC (and lot of them actually were pretty bad). In OFP/AA you can see A LOT of very apparent repeated textures when you go higher, and their draw distance is about two miles - over that you cant see ANYTHING - they always hide further terrain in fog.

Please prove me that I am wrong with some OFP/AA mid/high altitude screenshot :)

I think one thing LOMAC could take from OFP is terrain bump-mapping for low altitude rendering, or do what this (http://web.interware.hu/bandi/ranger.html) engine does.

BTW, I absolutely love OFP and will for sure buy AA ...
