Training for instrument flight, radio operations and SOPs don't need a good flight model ;) and that is FSX - did you ever tried to fly 1knt over the limit? -> computer says: no!

 

FSX is great for training but it doesn't feel... Right ( the small planes - the fat liners are another story )

The ED Devs IMO are not even required to spend time on building one.

 

There are a couple of 3rd party designers that made a purchasable C172 model.

I'm aware of Carenado and A2A simulations.

Couldn't ED get in touch with them to make one for DCS?

I like DCS World as a combat flight simulator. But that said, it would be great fun flying around a Cessna Skyhawk in it. Imagine trying to dodge F-16 Fighting Falcons as they plunge out of the sky, flying low and slow over the ground!
