Kimi_uy Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Is it possible to send digitally aided CAS briefs to (Human) A-10 aircrews on station? Kinda like AI JTAC does when he sends data. An awesome idea would be to be able to take control over the UAS, with just a HUD + MFDs from the A-10, and that way u can do proper (A)FAC-ing with em! I know it's easier altogether to be AFAC with the A-10, but this could bring much more funtionality or "cross-functionality" between the Hog and CA modules. What do you think? Is it time for ED to release a UAS??? :music_whistling: [sIGPIC]][/sIGPIC] Fuel Planning Tool | DCS: A-10C SADL MOD | Kimi's Arma 3 Mods | Twitch.tv
Skitter Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 It would be nice, wouldn't it? :-) It's not at the moment possible as far as I know.
Pikey Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 I suggested it in the CA wishlist to produce a JTAC interface to the SADL network. ___________________________________________________________________________ SIMPLE SCENERY SAVING * SIMPLE GROUP SAVING * SIMPLE STATIC SAVING *

RIFLE_JTAC_TRAINING Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 You may be confusing FAC-A here slightly. Although DCS employs MQ-1s as such its really the job of a A-10, Marine aircraft or F-16s if they still do it. The idea is to have intimate control over the target area. A UAV just cant provide that SA when the pilot is in Las Vegas. What your talking about I believe would be SCAR control. Strike Control and Recce. A lot like what happened in Libya and whats happening today for the most part in Iraq. I agree we should have this real world capability to empower the user in single and multi player. There is a real world possiblity. The MQ-1C. It has three payloads one of which operated by its original crew. At least one of the other two can be operated in real time by the team on the ground. The disadvantage is that it has no weapons systems. A laser hand off to another aircraft would become necessary or a high confidence coordinate to a JDAM! Paganus Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 While it would be nice, I guess, is it really too hard to punch in coordinates? 1
RIFLE_JTAC_TRAINING Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Paganus, I think this is just a real life debate about cost savings vs piloted aircraft when it comes to some CAS scenarios. But your right. It does seem simple to punch in grids. Provided the ground force has correct grids. 63 My CAS (Close air support) JTAC Channel: RIFLE - YouTube RIFLE's Discord: https://discord.gg/cmDCrr4Z2g Publications JTAC Bible (see/know chapter #5) https://fas.org/irp/doddir/dod/jp3_09_3.pdf J-FIRE pocket guide (Don't do battle without it!) Kimi_uy Posted January 21, 2015 Author Posted January 21, 2015 (edited) Something like this maybe? That's exactly what i had in mind :) I wonder if that's anyway near a public release... @Paganus, What i meant also was to be able to get the feed of the UAV to the MFDs in the A-10, and have it as an additional sensor, kinda like the apache + firescout. And I recall someone saying that some of the latest F-16 blocks have that ability too. RIFLE_JTAC_TRAINING Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Ive never thought about that. But I dont think SADL or VMF (variable message format) does any of those. Very interesting. 63 My CAS (Close air support) JTAC Channel: RIFLE - YouTube RIFLE's Discord: https://discord.gg/cmDCrr4Z2g Publications JTAC Bible (see/know chapter #5) https://fas.org/irp/doddir/dod/jp3_09_3.pdf J-FIRE pocket guide (Don't do battle without it!) vicx Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 I got a feeling that Reaper mod requires an A10-C install. If not then I would like to know how that was done.
