4c Hajduk Veljko Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 All (internet) references I can find suggest that MiG-29 utilizes a BVP-30-26M chaffs/flares dispenser that has 60 cavities. It can be fitted with all flares or all chaffs or any combination of the two. Does anybody know what chaffs/flares dispenser is modeled in LOMAC and why do we have only 10 flares on MiG-29? Han Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 MiG-29 in LO have 20 flare and 40 chaff charges. It's ballanced to have ability to avoid 3 RH missiles and 2 IR missiles. With Best Regards! Daniel Tuseyev Il-2: Battle of Stalingrad and Rise Of Flight projects manager
Pilotasso Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 I agree if the real mig has more the plane in lockon should have more as well. Once the migs visual signature and missile guidance is adjusted again you risk geting flames for the mig being a perfect target. Just a note IMHO. .

No jammers, r27r only..what more do you want. Now, is the MIG29S with jammers and wide variety of AA munitions the same 'perfect' target IRL like the A version? I don't think so..maybe it would end up the same way eventually, but with more of a fighting chance..that's the least i would expect from it. You are right. I overlooked that they are dispensed as pairs. So MiG-29S has 10 pairs of flares (20 flares). Is there any way to adjust that number or to dispense them one by one? Cobra360 Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 The flares are only released in pairs in lockon. It would be nice to have the option to decide what kind of counter-measure loadout you want though like in JF/A-18. In F4 you can fully customise 4 pre-set chaff/flare release programs to run when you press the release button. I don't know if Russian jets have a similar system IRL but looking at the displays the Swifts and Knights put on, I think they do.

They have, you can set the flare system to fire 1,2 or 4 flares at the press of a button, also you can set the interval, at 0.1, 0.5 and 1.0 seconds. Also you have emergency jettison (all the flares go at once :D) and continious dispersion with the above mentioned intervals. I think the same goes for the chaff. Oh, on the russian forum I've read tat we will have programmable dispensers in 1.2, we will be able to fire all 120 flares at once, and break the low fps record while doing so :p Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:
Pilotasso Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 In adition you can program your stick to spew as many as you want in the time interval of your choice. .

I need more flares in MiG-29! Colt40Five Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Ok sorry for being WAY off topic..but is that Su-25 in your sig a LO skin?? If it is where can I get it and if not why not?? It's awesome! Would be extra sweet if it could be adapted to the 25T. I wish I had some artistic talent... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Will dispenser be programmable in it? It would make a big difference if we could dispense flares one by one instead in pairs. Quick successive five-six flares may save you and have enough remaining flares to combat that remaining R27-ET and R-73s. GGTharos Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 No, it won't be. AFAIK the existing flyables are not being touched. Dropping them in pairs is no less effective and it won't change things a whole lot in terms of simple evasion like what you are describing. Just program yoru HOTAS to hit the flare key three times in quick succession.
