VincentLaw Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 (edited) I made various flights with the MiG-21 with both the R-60M and the R-13M1 and I can't lock on front aspect targets. I can only lock airplanes from behind. I tried setting the MiG-21 to AI controlled and it successfully fires at front aspect targets with IR missiles. Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug? You have right with R-13M/R-13M1, but R-60M is ALL ASPECT missile. Leatherneck mistaken constantly R-60M with R-60, those missiles looks very similar but they are totally different. Most people even don't now how recognize both variants.
WinterH Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Actually, now MiG-21 and ED modules have been using the same R-60M from airfield storage (at first, LN R-60M was a different entry). But, weapon perform still quite different. R-60M on ED MiG-29 or Su-25 can still lock from front aspect at least close in and seem to pick up heat sources much quicker. Not so much on MiG-21.
