Vespa Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Hi guys...I'm trying to follow the Alpha Matt Wagner video to start up the Mig...but I'm not able to run the engine....any detailed procedure please? Thanks
Elefant1301 Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Ask for ground power (radio, F8 - F2 - F1). Don't forget to shut it down before taxiing. ;-) If you already did that, maybe it's something wrong with the fuel cock. Half open from 0 to 1500 RPM and after full open. (If I remember well, it is the home key)
Dirty Rotten Flieger Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Seems to be some conflicting info on ground power or no ground power... I can't get it started without ground power
Diplocaulus Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 (edited) I can't get it started either. After several tries with the manual procedure I hit LWin+Home to autostart, but at the end of the auto start process it reports "Engine RPM Failure." I reloaded the mission several times and tried again, but I get the same result with the autostart: ENGINE RPM FAILURE AUTOSTART STOPPED Edited February 28, 2015 by Diplocaulus Windows 10 64bit / Intel Core i7-5820K Haswell-E 6-Core 3.30 GHz / 32GB RAM / GeForce GTX 1080 8GB / Dell UltraSharp 27 QHD U2715H 2560x1440 / Saitek X52 Pro Flight System / TrackIR 5

Pizzicato Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 The process in the quickstart manual works every time for me: * Ground power on * All right-hand switches except battery on * Four fuel/electrical switches on left-hand side on * Engine start switch depressed (1-2 secs) * HOME at ~500 RPM * RSHFT+HOME at ~1100 RPM * Throttle up to 5000 RPM * Ground power off * Battery on Then * Canopy closed * Pressurize * Oxygen i7-7700K @ 4.9Ghz | 16Gb DDR4 @ 3200Mhz | MSI Z270 Gaming M7 | MSI GeForce GTX 1080ti Gaming X | Win 10 Home | Thrustmaster Warthog | MFG Crosswind pedals | Oculus Rift S
Injerin Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Its due to the fuel lever once the plane ramps up, put lever down 50% let it ramp to 500 then push lever all the way down. it should start. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Dhooglass Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 One way that works for me every time is once the engine reaches 600 RPM (starter) start slowly feeding in fuel (fuel lever) until 100% open. If you listen to the engine when you introduce fuel you can hear it "catch" after that keep slowly adding fuel. I love the VK-1 startup. Feels so real. No hot starts yet!
Diplocaulus Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 ...check your axis or buttons to see if anything is conflicting with "engine stop" during auto start Thank you for your reply. Nothing assigned to the "Engine Stop" axis, but after shutting down DCS World entirely and restarting the mission the autostart worked fine. Not sure what happened, prior to the mission I went into the mission editor and changed the season and time of day. Reagan505 Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 (edited) Once engine spools up to 600 RPM, slowly introduce fuel,(About 35-50%). Once the engine RPM starts increasing rapidly, (Which you will hear) go 100% fuel, which is around 1100 RPM... Good times, another great module from BST Edited February 28, 2015 by Reagan505
Airway Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Turn on the axis display with Strg Right + Enter. I had the same troubles and have experienced that I never had the thrust lever full back. In the settings I had a dead zone applied to the thrust axis, both to 96% I deleted that and put it all back to hundred and voila, I was now able to move the thrust lever fully back and the engine cranked then by pushing the start button. I got to that fault by watching the autostart process. At a time the thrust lever turned back just a litte bit before craking so I knew I had an input error here in my manual process.
Vespa Posted March 1, 2015 Author Posted March 1, 2015 Ground power fixed the issue...start up succesfully performed. By the way...dows the nose wheel can be rotated? Or I need to drive the ac on ground using differential wheel brakes?
msalama Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 differential wheel brakes? Differential braking is how you turn this bird. Press W and kick rudder towards the side you want to apply them on. The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.
joey45 Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Break and turn.. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Diplocaulus Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 (edited) Differential braking is how you turn this bird. Press W and kick rudder towards the side you want to apply them on. It's tricky at first. What works for me (most times) is hold the rudder in the direction you wish to turn and then pump the brakes in order to get the plane to respond as desired. With the Sabre you simply hold down the S key and manipulate the rudder. With the prop planes it's L/R differential braking. The MiG-15bis demands a little more coordination, at least for me.
