Crumpp Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Just because the B-25 was only operated by the RAF doesn't make it irrelevant to a post-D-Day Northern European scenario; as I've said earlier, it participated in some of the more interesting ops undertaken by 2 TAF and it deserves to be represented. That's not just my opinion. I think the motivation is clear for the B-25 and the 2nd TAF...... :music_whistling: Answers to most important questions ATC can ask that every pilot should memorize: 1. No, I do not have a pen. 2. Indicating 250

The_Pharoah Posted March 9, 2015 Author Posted March 9, 2015 I welcome any and all bombers, big, small, you name it, give it to me... :) even the Tupolev TB-3 :megalol: again back in my IL2 days, everyone in my squad used to get online, load up into 2-3 TB3s and just go for it...everyone banging away with their peashooters whilst the TB3s were flying next to each other! lol...absolutely loads of fun before it all came crashing down. (whilst we're at it, another 'game' was tag...where whoever was 'it' would put on smoke and was allowed to shoot at everyone else....everyone else could only shoot at whoever was 'it') AMD AM4 Ryzen7 3700X 3.6ghz/MSI AM4 ATX MAG X570 Tomahawk DDR4/32GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600mhz/1TB 970 Evo SSD/ASUS RTX2070 8gb Super
Friedrich-4B Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 (edited) I think the motivation is clear for the B-25 and the 2nd TAF...... :music_whistling: Lemme see, the reason for this poll was... Hi guys For the future of DCS WW2, we will definitely need medium bombers. So my question is, what medium bomber should we get first? ie. 1. DeHavilland Mosquito 2. B25 Mitchell 3. A20 Havoc 4. B26 Marauder 5. Bristol Beaufighter 6. HE-111 7. JU-88 Obviously I'm focusing mainly on the allied side however most of the above (save for probably the Beaufighter) served on the Western Front so would fit in with the Normandy map. And the only air force operating the B-25 and fitting in with the Normandy map, was? Something rhyming with 2nd Tactical Air Force. :music_whistling: Me too. I just don't care for the fuel threads that will be coming with a B-25 in the 2nd TAF... :smilewink: Not that anyone mentioned fuel...:smilewink: However, now that the subject of fuel has been raised, there will be those mischievous diehards who'll be wanting the B-25s of 2 TAF to use 100/130 grade, rather than 100/130 octane. Anyway, those who don't care about fuel threads can always opt to stay away from and/or ignore them. :music_whistling: :smilewink:  Edited March 9, 2015 by Friedrich-4/B cut down overuse of word 'fuel' [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]************************************* Fortunately, Mk IX is slightly stable, anyway, the required stick travel is not high... but nothing extraordinary. Very pleasant to fly, very controllable, predictable and steady. We never refuse to correct something that was found outside ED if it is really proven...But we never will follow some "experts" who think that only they are the greatest aerodynamic guru with a secret knowledge. :smartass: WWII AIRCRAFT PERFORMANCE
The_Pharoah Posted March 9, 2015 Author Posted March 9, 2015 lol I don't get the whole debate on fuel. Thats not going to help you much with a 109 or 190 on your tail. AMD AM4 Ryzen7 3700X 3.6ghz/MSI AM4 ATX MAG X570 Tomahawk DDR4/32GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600mhz/1TB 970 Evo SSD/ASUS RTX2070 8gb Super
Solty Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 lol I don't get the whole debate on fuel. Thats not going to help you much with a 109 or 190 on your tail. Not in a bomber. And it is about historical accuracy and balance, especially within fighter department. So this doest belong to this thread. gavagai Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 EDIT : here are some shots from our exhibition flight with medium B25s a year ago. If you look at the screens, you will get a feel for what's in a Bomber Squadron event. It takes a serious amount of work in order to fly a large formation in a coordinated manner. http://www.battle-fields.com/commscentre/showthread.php?25578-19-01-14-Exhibition-flight-SCREENS Thanks for sharing the pics. The demographics of the meeting are impressive. If anyone wants to know why there is not a huge multiplayer scene in flight simming, there is your answer: the average age in the room looks close to 50. At 35 I would be one of the youngest in the room!:) P-51D | Fw 190D-9 | Bf 109K-4 | Spitfire Mk IX | P-47D | WW2 assets pack | F-86 | Mig-15 | Mig-21 | Mirage 2000C | A-10C II | F-5E | F-16 | F/A-18 | Ka-50 | Combined Arms | FC3 | Nevada | Normandy | Straight of Hormuz | Syria

This was a (civil) flight sim meeting we flew a live performance for. MiloMorai Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Yes The B-29 was a VERY heavy bomber. for example, the 39th BG had the destination VH added > 39th BG(VH)
