Hi, I got a prompt the other night to update the "updater", not a "patch update", I cancelled it because I was in the middle of troubleshooting something, I figured I would get prompted for it again, much like you do with the patches in 24 hrs,,, this is not happening, nor does it give me the updater when I use the program menu to do an update? So how do I get it now? Thanks

Last week or so I declined to install the "updater", because I was in the middle of trouble shooting something, so last night, I downloaded the latest "updater" (per this post) and all I wanted to do was just that,, update the "updater", when I clicked on the updater.exe, it went right into downloading and installing the latest open beta? I dont want the open beta. I just wanted to update the updater in preparation for patch releases.

I reformatted and reloaded from a backup image from the day before, so I am good to go without the latest updater, so my question is,, am I ok not having the latest updater if say a patch is released in the next few days and I want it downloaded and installed? Or is there a way to install the latest updater without getting the beta versions? Perhaps disconnecting my internet connection, then clicking on the updater .exe file to install the updater only? i dont know?

Something ain't right then. I checked the link above, downloaded the latest updater and it's exactly the same file as the one which auto-downloaded on my PC a week ago. The 64-bit version unzipped should be called "DCS_updater.exe", with the size of 2635672 bytes. Important - make sure You put it in DCS World/bin directory, otherwise it might get "confused" and start downloading some unwanted stuff indeed.

I dont know? I did a quick experiment, downloaded the 64 bit updater, disconnected my internet connection, right clicked on the updater.exe file, ran as admin, it did something in a flash? Then I plugged in my internet connection, opened up DCS, and it quickly checked for an update (typical) but it did not download anything and went to the correct interface,,, so all seems ok now! I dont know what the updater file did because it literally went in a flash. I guess the only way to know if it did update would be to check what version of updater I have, but I have no idea where to look for that?

Check your autoupdate.log to see which version of the updater you are running and dcs version

E:\DCS World\autoupdate.log

Also a lot of people I have helped recently had issues with updating while their antivirus was running, maybe disabling it during an update will help.

Another way is to change the date on your computer to the day before, and then launch DCS again. The updated should prompt again.

Thank you for providing the link to downloading the updater. Mine got corrupted due to a power failiure during use. DCW World is ok, and runs, but the updater is toast. I did not want to have to download 10gb again just for a small updater.

Thank you once again for bailing me out of trouble.

Ivan.
