Just trying to get a idea about interest on a potential project.

If you own a CH FighterStick, would you be interested in purchasing an F-15 replica handle? Would you feel confident to do the replacement yourself following a detailed set of instructions? How about if it involved some wire cutting and soldering? How much would you be willing to pay for this? If weak-knee'd, how much additional would you pay to ship it for the conversion?

BTW, if you have an old Suncom SFS throttle laying around, would you be willing to donate or sell cheap for a CH TQ transformation project?

This is nowhere near a reality, just asking some questions.

Thanks

snomhf,

after seeing your latest work on the ch gear i think you would be very capable of modifying anything.

i think its a great idea, now what about a left handed f-15. :)

ps: i am always on the lookout for a talon and an sfs throttle on ebay, they do pop up occasionally.

is the talon a solid unit or are they rubbish?

sounds like you would be interested in putting the talon handle on the ch base, is that right.

and those sfs throttles have a heap of buttons etc, would be awesome if you could reverse one of those.

I used one for years. Finally the trigger switch gave out. They are quality but old school, meaning game port and calibration. I use a Fighterstick now and like the added ease and extra functionality, but I miss the Talon. I bought a replacement switch but haven't gotten around to fixing the old stick.

Yes, that's exactly what I have in mind. I just bought a Talon off ebay and when it comes, I'm going to pull the handles off it, modify it to fit on a FighterStick base, then make moulds of it for anyone who would want one. I've been looking for a SFS Throttle to do something similar for the Pro Throttle base using the electronics out of a CH Throttle Quad. I haven't thought much about "left-handing" these things yet but that is certainly possible down the road.

Suncom SFS throttles turn up on Ebay fairly frequently. As do Suncom F-15E Talons.

Yeah, I had the chance on a SFS throttle last week and I got cheap and let it go to someone else. I'm kicking myself.

It looks like someone else alreay had the same idea and did it.

Yes, I've seen that. Pretty cool. My idea is that since I am moulding left-handed versions of the FighterStick handle already, I figured I could pull the handle off the Suncom Talon and mould it too and make copies of it available to people who might want them.

It's not sounding like there is very much interest in this so far though. Oh well, maybe I'll make a left-handed version for myself.

I did a fair bit of research on putting an F15 stick head on the cougar base. I have the suncom here ready to mould. The most time consuming part is to reproduce the circuit board inside the handle. The ICs on there are very basic, but hard to find. Anyway, its one of those 'rainy day projects'.

Actually, the SFS split throttle mod is something I really want to do. I just need to get my hands on one of them first.

Having used both the 15 and 16 replicas, to me the 15 feels much better. But it has one less hat and one less button. A button could be modded on, but the extra hat would likely have to be omitted.

That depends on how realistic you want your pit.
