SHKVAL has a limited gimbal - like in the Su-25T , so dont fly over the target - set brakes and dive. Mavs should work fine (works for me) - lock on the target on the tv screen and fire if you get the LA

It is possible via writing custom luaDevice which will set the necessary animation argument for aircraft external model.

Also you need to synchronize these arguments via additional entry in the net animation list in the plane's declaration lua file.

I can do it, but absence of a good 3d model for F-14 makes this attempt not worth the effort.

Actually I can do nearly anything with external animation using ingame sensors data and custom system device.

Find the author of VNAO models, convince him to provide the original 3D Max files, and then I can help you.

 

I don't understand any of that LOL. I think it will be best just to wait until the F-14A/B gets released.

 

Also, what does jsgme mean? And for the wings of russia site, so you put the aircraft files into the mod's folder, but what is this about the activation tool?

I downloaded the F18C and love it! thx a lot!

 

One problem, though:

When i select the F18C it comes with the standard F15C cockpit and HUD, but the controller settings are those for the SU33. Now how can i get the functions of the F15C working that don't exist in the SU33?

 

Secondly, when i select the F18A it comes with a F15C cockpit which is all powered down though, i.e. black MFD's. Also it comes with a SU33 HUD.

 

I think i installed it all correctly but I'm not sure, tbh.

 

Any advice?

Maybe the F 18 A has the Su 33 Avionics, so the MFD will not work, but i'm not sure

 

And what F 15 Functions are not working with the F 18 C?

after some more experimentation: controller settings and weapons aren't working (none of the weapons apart from the gun can be employed...).

 

the f15c controller settings dont affect the f18 at all (with the cockpit being that of the f15 i assumed the controls etc would be coming from the f15c).

 

the f18c controller settings don't seem to work with the f18. there's no effect.

 

what does work somehow are su33 controller settings. but without a su33 cockpit its also confusing...

 

not sure where the problem is. with the f18 being so refined and detailed i do assume there's something wrong on my end... not sure what it is, though.

 

i dumped all the unzipped folders into the respective folders of the main dcs directory. same what i did with the a7 mod, for example, and that one is working fine in all respects.

 

any help is appreciated, i'd really love to get this bird to work properly :-)

Blueskunk, while you're in an offline mission, hit ESCAPE and choose "Adjust Controls". This will take you to whichever plane has the responsibility for supplying the controls for the mod you're in. In this case, it is the SU-33. I have gotten almost everything to work except the air to ground smart weapons, such as the Mavric's and HARM's. Not sure why except that maybe because the MFD in the F-15 cockpit won't work for them?? In any case, it's an awesome mod and will provide hours and hours of fun and good training until the real thing arrives. :D

Having a blast so far great mods,

For those having trouble in the 18A, make sure you are using key I and O to turn on the Mercury pod to run the TV for Mav's & Harms (Hit & Miss with the AGM 84 & 88's sometime they launch sometime not at all)

one issue with the 18A is AGM-65D's won't load up if you chose from the lft alt ' arms menu, they only seem to load if you set them in ME, but once used they won't re-load if land and ask for rearming at any airfield :(

 

Also in the control/input/name.lua file for the 18A it's named as a C so you may need to change that.

weapon release is also commented out in default joystick.lua I found un-commenting it helps in getting missiles & bombs off the racks.

Yeah with the agm 84 & 88, I think i may have activated weapons override to launch them not sure how though, as I don't have it bound to any controls, and I didn't press alt w, weird??

must be because it's using the Su inputs crossed with the 18A inputs files or something.

By "Unique", I assume that you are asking if any of the mods have a cockpit of their own. The answer is no. The A-7E Corsair uses the A-10 cockpit, the A-7E2 uses the Su-25 cockpit, both the F/A-18A and C uses the F-15 cockpit. They may not be the most sophisticated models in the game, but they beat the heck out of nothing for the US Navy side. The CVN-77 G W Bush is also a beautiful piece of work and rivals the one that ED is producing.

pardon my ignorance, but can anyone refer me to the respective lua file? the one i found in mods/aircraft/fa-18/input/fa-18c/joystick folder doesn't show // or --. just a ton of text...

 

also, anything i need to consider before making any changes? default planes won't be affected, right? i never did that before...
