Snacko Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 (edited) In several missions the ATC never responds to Request for Startup or Request to taxi. What gives? I'm in a Mig21 and I am requesting the correct tower name. Do I have to have the batteries on and the radio setup to the right channel? I did that too, but it didn't help... But even when I have had the engine started, when I request to taxi or takeoff, I get no response... Mostly, I have tried this when in an Instant Action or Quick Start mission... PS: The Ground Crew menu works. They respond to requests to connect ground power on and off. McBlemmen Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 (edited) Check if easy communications is toggled on/off in both your personal settings and the mission specific settings (in mission editor). If it's NOT on (so realistic comms are used) then you do need battery power and the radios operational in order to use them. You can contact ground becouse , when your canopy is open you can alwayss contact ground (look at it as if your pilot is screaming at the crew chief.) I don't know the mig 21 that well , but in the ka50 you need to switch the radio to "intercom" in order to contact ground crew "when the doors are closed anyway) given they're both russian birds i would assume it's the same in the mig. Oh and obviously you need to enter the right frequency in the radio(non-easy comms only). You can find out your airports frequency by going to the f10 map and clicking the airport icon and looking in the bottom left of the screen. Also , in the A-10 and the Ka-50 , there is "communications menu" command , and a dedicated push to talk command wich operates the radios. Again , i don't know the mig that well but it may have a similar system. (The A10 even has 3 separate PTT keys for its 3 radios) Edit : though now that i think about it i think the mig 21 may not use frequencies but pre set channels that need to be set from the mission editor , if that's the case i can't help you any more Edited June 10, 2015 by McBlemmen
dooom Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 I think the 21 is bugged - I can't get arc to respond in MP either anymore... zaelu Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Me neither. From last Patch ATC is silent on Mig21Bis. Must be a bug I guess. Snacko Posted June 10, 2015 Author Posted June 10, 2015 Thanks for the replies. I did just turn Easy Comms on. It still doesn't work. But now I do see the commands in the menus, but manu of them are grayed out. So, this does appear to be a bug. So much for my wasted time making a Voice Attack Comms menu. But at least I can request Ground Power on and off.. ;-) Snack Officer Intel I9-10850K (OC @ 5.0ghz) │ 64GB (4x16GB) DDR4 3200 │Gigabyte RTX 4090 Gaming OC 24gb - ҉ - Blackshark Cockpit Trainer - ҉ - ♣ Thread | ♥ Download
gavagai Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 (edited) There are other threads about this same issue. One post suggests turning on the inverter (which shouldn't have to be on), and another says to resave the mission with the most current version of DCSW. I've also encountered this bug, so I'm going to try out these workarounds today. ---------------------- I just tried both of these with the cold start mission, and the ATC still won't respond. I double checked that channel 14 is set to 136MHz in the mission editor, and it is set correctly. It is weird because the radio does function in some missions but not others. --------------------- I made my own cold-start mission and the radio worked fine from Nalchik. However, once it was time to request a landing, the tower stopped responding again. I went back to the main radio menu, reselected Nalchik, and the tower responded again. So it's not just a mission save issue. Something is definitely bugged. Mrgud Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 If I'm correct, it should work by turning ON radio once the batteries are ON. This bug is annoying me to. I would like to do the whole communication procedure from requesting the startup till the end of my flight. But when I create mission, I can't contact ATC, but instead I go with startup procedure anyway. When engine spools up I can contact ATC and when I ask for permission to taxi I am cleared but when I start moving, suddenly I am not cleared to taxi. It's the same thing when I'm asking for take off. But when I do take off, I can contact any other tower by selecting appropriate channel on radio and everything works just fine, from inbound, request for landing and so on. In this video, everything works as it should: Maybe the author (Thor Brasil) knows something that we don't know ;)
Snacko Posted June 23, 2015 Author Posted June 23, 2015 Sometimes I started to go before I disconnected ground power. And the Ground Crew(I think) yelled "Hey! What are you doing!?".. Chief1942 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 (edited) Yep! As has been noted, this is a bug and Leatherneck is aware of it. The temp "fix" recently has been to open Mission Editor in the mission you've chosen to fly and make a small change in the mission (ie. change fuel load or loadout) and save that. The ATC should then be heard when contacted. They are not the most prompt however:music_whistling:. I often forget to take these steps when flying the Mig-21 and have the issue. But if I do the "fix" it does appear to work. Good luck.;) Edited June 23, 2015 by Chief1942 miss spelled Intel i5-4690K Devil's Canyon, GForce TitanX, ASUS Z-97A MB, 16GB GDDR3 GSkill mem, Samsung SSD X3,Track IR, TM Warthog, MFG Crosswind pedals, Acer XB280HK monitor,GAMETRIX KW-908 JETSEAT
Snacko Posted June 23, 2015 Author Posted June 23, 2015 I have a mission, and I just saved it after adding some aircraft and moving some waypoints. But the ATC still does not respond to request for Startup. I had my battery on, the Radio on and set to my airport. No joy.. Chief1942 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 In all honesty I haven't been using the Mig -21 module in awhile due to some other problems so that "fix" I noted may have been only in a previous version and is no longer fixing the problem in the latest iteration 1.2.16.39472.729. Seems frequently when the squash one bug, another pops up. Quite the challenge. Sorry for your problem and wasn't able to help. Sokol1_br Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 (edited) The issue I find - as example Mig-21 Instant Action "Take off" - from Nalchik. The briefing inform that Nalchik ATC is channel 14. Hit "/" for radio menu, no answer for Nalchik ATC (for ground crew work OK, cockpit closed), and the Squelch dont work. Look at mission file in ME, the player plane has default frequency set in 124.00MHZ. R-832 has channel 14 set for 136.00MHZ. So no communication is possible. As I dont know how set (if are possible, like in Ka-50) frequency on cockpit - I bough the Mig-21 in STEAM SS, not yet started to "radio simulation" :D - in ME I change the player plane COMM for 136.00MHZ and now the Squelch and talk work OK. image hoster But dont matter change the channel in the radio, in the picture the selector is set in # 0. BTW - This frequency list on right side of cockpit show different channel for (Nalchik) Нальчик - is 15 - 136.00MHZ. EDIT - In the Instant Action - Mig-21 Cold starter - the radio only became "ON" after the engine start and the "AC Generator" is turned ON, no mater if battery or ground power is ON. Leave the Squelch switch OFF to hear when the radio are "on air", then the ATC hear and reply to you. upload picture Edited June 27, 2015 by Sokol1_br add
