myszak Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Hi. It would be nice to see that scheme in DCS. Regards!
1.JaVA_Platypus Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 If a bit higher resolution images of the emblems would exist (and pics of the other side of the aircraft!) It would be rather easy to do that livery. Happy Flying! :pilotfly:
myszak Posted June 17, 2015 Author Posted June 17, 2015 (edited) Maybe that photos will be usefull. Insignia from nose: EDIT: Here you can find more photos: http://www.archeolask.fora.pl/samoloty-w-polskich-muzeach,49/zloty-mig-21-mf-w-mlp-krakow,80.html Edited June 17, 2015 by myszak
1.JaVA_Platypus Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Okay, I will try it. I looked at the site/forum with more of the pics. But the eagle will be the biggest challenge I think. Happy Flying! :pilotfly:
myszak Posted June 21, 2015 Author Posted June 21, 2015 Its hard to find photo of eagle in good resolution. Thank you :D
1.JaVA_Platypus Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Does anybody know what this emblem on the left side is? It looks simple, but it is too tiny to see what it is. It looks like some kind of 'kill marking' or so. Happy Flying! :pilotfly:
GeorgeLKMT Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 This one is more up close but different, dunno why. But it's fairly easy to draw anyway: More photos: http://www.przemkko.strefa.pl/m_walkaround/mig_21_zloty.html http://apachemodel.blogspot.cz/2012/11/mig-21-zoty-z-krakkowskeigo-muzeum.html http://archiwum.plastikowe.pl/galerie/mig-21mf ■ L-39C/ZA Czech cockpit mod ■ My DCS skins ■
1.JaVA_Platypus Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Thank you George. :) I hope they are not kill markings for US F-18's :music_whistling: Do you know everything about MiG-21's????? :D Happy Flying! :pilotfly:
1.JaVA_Platypus Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Getting the color right is the first step. How about this? Happy Flying! :pilotfly:
myszak Posted June 22, 2015 Author Posted June 22, 2015 Looks good. But please remember that the lower part of the aircraft is as bright as canopy. :)
1.JaVA_Platypus Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Looks good. But please remember that the lower part of the aircraft is as bright as canopy. :) Yes my polish friend, I noticed. But first, I want to get the color just right. After that, I will do the aluminum undersides and the emblems. Those are the easy things. The big eagle on the nose will be the most difficult to do. And I must do the polish writing myself as well I think. I can't borrow that from somebody else. That will also be a challenge since I don't speak any polish besides 'Tak' and 'Dobre'.  Happy Flying! :pilotfly:
myszak Posted June 23, 2015 Author Posted June 23, 2015 Polish is unfortunately difficult language to other nations. The more I thank you that you spend time on this project. :D
1.JaVA_Platypus Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 (edited) Getting started. I can't use the artwork i found so far. So I must trace over everything in Photoshop. It would be allright for skins in Il-2 sturmovik, but the DCS MiG-21 uses far more larger and more detailed textures. So something low-res as this example would look horrible on the Leatherneck MiG-21. Edited June 25, 2015 by 1.JaVA_Platypus Happy Flying! :pilotfly:
myszak Posted June 25, 2015 Author Posted June 25, 2015 You're right. I see work going forward :D. Nice.
1.JaVA_Platypus Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 (edited) Got this far on a friday evening. :music_whistling: Done while enjoying a French(!) beer Edited June 27, 2015 by 1.JaVA_Platypus Happy Flying! :pilotfly:
Art-J Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 Just to be on the safe side, promise You will show us the template before release, so we can spell-check what You've written on "our" MiG (two typos above already, must've been a good beer :D ). i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
1.JaVA_Platypus Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Well... I actually didn't know the French made any beer at all. It is probably the reason they put it in wine bottles. Anyways, I redid the text. It now reads: "PULK LOTNICTWA MYSLIMSKIEGO" With a modified "L" and "S". I also omited the extra "Y". The font I used was just plain Arial, in bold. It seems close enough. Don't worry about it being pixelated, DCS world renders most of the pixels smoothly. Happy Flying! :pilotfly:
GeorgeLKMT Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 The easiest thing to do is just to put that sentence you're trying to type in google. It'll usually correct you if there's a typo and display a wiki article which has correct spelling. ;) Myśliwskiego :D Good job so far though. ■ L-39C/ZA Czech cockpit mod ■ My DCS skins ■
1.JaVA_Platypus Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 (edited) Thanks for the hint George, but this particular text is all in capitals. So a simple copy-paste from google won't work because they auto correct all the capitals as well. However, I could select special Polish characters like `Ł` and `Ś`in Google translate. GeorgeLKMT Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 I meant just for spell check... BUT on character panel in photoshop, there's a magic button that will transform your text to all caps, looks like TT ;) ■ L-39C/ZA Czech cockpit mod ■ My DCS skins ■
1.JaVA_Platypus Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Is there anything you DON'T know George???? Happy Flying! :pilotfly:
1.JaVA_Platypus Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Doing the small (sea)dragon emblem. It turned out rather neat! Happy Flying! :pilotfly:
