This has bothered me for quite some time now; thought it was time to ask.

So I'm flying along the first mission of the Ka-50 campaign where the lead guy is talking and telling me about the scenery and surrounding. I'm struggling to keep my aircraft straight and level and don't have time to read the text in the top right corner before it disappears. This has happened countless times in tutorials as well. I hate pressing ESC, it sort of breaks the immersion/mood. So

Is there a way to see previous messages that were displayed in the top right corner?

Er don't know really.. But I suggest you do some more training in the trimming and AP channels department. Good usage of these features will let you fly steady and hands off even.

The KA-50 is the easiest helicopter to fly if you utilize and understand its features.

This tutorial is assuming you are using a non forcefeedback controller. If you HAVE FFB then flying is even more easy and intuitive. Alas noone makes them anymore and logitech has the patent.

None that I know of, and you're right that this is indeed an immersion-killer.

In Single Player missions, I made it a habit to pause the simulation, write down coordinates and other pertinent stuff and then let the message continue.

Most mission are designed very well and this isn't actually necessary, but in some missions this helps me a lot, to the point that otherwise I'd have to fly the whole thing again.

A message history would be awesome and I'm sure we're going to see something like it in the future, but for now, if you want to play it safe, you should pause, write down everything important, and then continue.

(I see it as a substitute for not being able to say "Please repeat" over the radio.)

I've done this as well. It is annoying but currently, sometimes, necessary.

Some MP missions have a great workaround: They supply coordinates via the F10 radio menu.

So there could be a lengthy message from a JTAC, and after the message has been shown, the F10 radio menu contains an item like "1. Target LN 123 456". Activating the item doesn't do anything, it's just there to keep coordinates available to the player and is usually erased when the tasking is complete.

But like I said, it's a workaround and requires additional work on behalf of the mission designer.

Just a random thought but maybe ED, in the future, can add another tab to the briefing window where a history of all the messages could go. The mission designer can decide which messages are important enough to go in the history window.

I always use this great tool to study the mission beforehand http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/453/.

It works really good!

Interesting. I am a wee bit surprised that it still works with the current version, but it is cool that it does.
