We're talking about US and British intercooperation here...so US and Russian intercooperation is going to be even more sticky.

It does appear that way on the surface but in reality were actually only talking about a simulator here thats being designed for commercal application..

And again all of the data thats needed to build a working model isn't classified.

Allthough its not available on the internet its certianly available..

The quartz rate sensors I spoke of were designed for commercial/private applications, yet access to their internal workings for regular maintenance is, to this day, restricted.

Not sure how any of us could post what is and isn't classified info. ;)

Understood, BRD, but we live in a world now where ITAR rules have made it necessary for Brits to come to the US, just to calibrate quartz rate sensors, in boxes that were STCd to be installed in US aircraft. Its STILL a sticking point and that...coupled with the reliability issues of that box...are the main reasons for a MAJOR US aircraft manufacturer terminating the contract. That manufacturer isn't even military, and support/reliability issues have killed the contract...the underlying factor in the support issue was security. We're talking about US and British intercooperation here...so US and Russian intercooperation is going to be even more sticky.

One example. VBS1 was done by Czech company (BIS) for Australian Defence Forces and later for US Marines. It is based on Operation Flashpoint game which was released before.

Classified info is usually ECM stuff and weapons/sensors performance.

Now that release is delayed for autumn, will Eagle Dynamics spend some time optimizing the code for hardware new technologies such as Dual Core processors and SLI?

We spend 'some' time for many new things actually (terrain, graphics engine, UI, dual processors, input, etc...). Many of them are not intended for the Ka-50 release - too much must be done to make them working.

Shpeski, can u throw us a morsel of the new terrain elements like trees and forests. That is what we would prefer as new screens instead of the same old missile models which are definately cool..but..:music_whistling:

All I can say is that it looks much better and it's up to Eagle to give you screenshots. :)

But that is what the Beta versions are for, people can test their software on it before release. You surely don't expect every software company to wait until Vista hits the shelf (gone retail) before they start compatability testing and modifications?

YAY! Why do we have to dig the forums for this kind of valuable info when trivial things such as screenshots parade the front pages of lockon.ru much of the time?

It's the "front page curse." If you print it there, then it won't come true.

If you are interested - you need a lot of time to dig up some hard facts about LO-BS.

As 'the things' are far enough from to be complete it is too early to scream about them at the front page.

A take off video with some NOE flying using TrackIr4 then engaging some targets or avoiding a SAM or AAA , some info were you are with LOBS would generate some positive reactions.

That's what developer journals are for. Instead of screenshots and videos I'd much rather read stuff like "Right now we're working on dual CPU support, flyable Hornet, a new map for Northern Europe, lots of new lua export features, AFM for all flyables and a bit less ear-shattering interface music."

Note that this kind of updates and screenshots aren't mutually exclusive and we could have them both.

you know what....this is what I understand : ED talked about using speedtree....now they say its too much work for this engine. Now a lot of ppl inclding myself are upset :(....thats why they are probably now following "mum's the word....thats our motto."

Yeah well, how many of the staff is proficient at writing Eng? And the few that can have things that need their full attention.

You're probably thinking, but how long does it take to write a journal? One worth reading? Probably a good hour or more I would imagine. If they just throw us some facts like what you wrote then people would whine about them not being thorough enough which will lead to another endless round of questions. Have patience and put away all your expectations. I've learned that the only thing you can expect is there will be bugs. teh

Anyway, I'd much rather the guys at ED to keep writing codes than developer journals.

ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

I agree 100% Leafer...not only is there a language difference, but an alphabet difference as well. It actually takes quite a bit of mental energy to communicate in another language, and its best that they spend it working on the sim. Its nice that those guys still pop in here occasionally to chat with us.

Do you know why Movies have trailers ? You need to generate interest - positive interest, when you have to delay release, your consumers should be frustrated - because they want to buy it, you don't want reactions like 'take your time, no hurry <yawn>' or 'no problem, I'm flying WoV & WoE now'

Trailers and vids are a different story...it would be nice to see those. As they say..."a picture is worth a thousand words". And video is worth about 29970 per second. :D
