Stormin Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 As I said, I'll believe it when I see it. ;) OK. But, it's for real.
Lixma 06 Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Just wondering whether it would be possible at any point to 'transplant' the Ka-50's HUD assembly into the Russian birds' cockpits ? While the cockpits are great looking they becomes very obviously 'flat' when you start moving your head around. A 3D HUD assembly would go a long way to correct this, it would have hardly any effect on performance, and seeing as the Russian a/c have very similar HUD layout....maybe ?

AndyHill Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Well, Olgerd seems to be doing just fine with his English and I don't know how long it took him to post that info, but that one sentecnce alone has more value to me than all the screenshots combined. Even if the features won't actually work it's great to know that they're being worked on and that ED consider them worth the effort. ________________________________________________________ Lock on MUST have a dynamic campaign with multiplayer capability! GGTharos Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Guys, to understand the scope of work, I suggest looking for the real ABRIS manual, or at least a brochure for it ... but the manual would be better. And this is just -one- of the systems onboard the Ka-50. It really is a very complex project! I would love to get into more detail but without go-ahead from ED I cannot. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
ED Team Olgerd Posted May 29, 2006 ED Team Posted May 29, 2006 Guys, to understand the scope of work, I suggest looking for the real ABRIS manual, or at least a brochure for it ... but the manual would be better. And this is just -one- of the systems onboard the Ka-50. It really is a very complex project! Indeed. ABRIS already took not less than one man per year development time. Some part of this time was spent on the general indicators technology though. I would love to get into more detail but without go-ahead from ED I cannot. You will get your chance, but a bit later. Sorry. ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] К чему стадам дары свободы? Их должно резать или стричь. Наследство их из рода в роды Ярмо с гремушками да бич.

Even if the features won't actually work it's great to know that they're being worked on and that ED consider them worth the effort. The problem is that offenly we can not say definitely if a particular feature will be released or not in some of following releases. Many things are completely experimental. So talking about them in public would generate many disappointments if they will be not released just in time. We are just giving some signs sometimes that we are still working with something new, but saying too much about our experiments is slightly risky for us. ;) Anyway, just few words on the forum are not enough to keep alive the developers' journal constantly. Who knows, may be things will change there later... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] К чему стадам дары свободы? Их должно резать или стричь. Наследство их из рода в роды Ярмо с гремушками да бич.
SuperKungFu Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Very nice, thanks for the input. Btw, would there be any sort of improvements for the flanker or the eagle. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

AndyHill Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 The problem is that offenly we can not say definitely if a particular feature will be released or not in some of following releases. I like to know about even experimental features that never make it into the final release. Even if something like dual core support fails it's good to know that you actually tried. The reason why I'd like to see developement journals or something like that is because valuable information can be difficult to find and gets lost in threads such as this one. A proper developer's journal might be a bit troublesome, but I'd settle for a couple of sentences on the forum once per week. I think you're sitting on a lot of information people would like to know and you wouldn't actually mind releasing.Like I've said before the few bits and pieces of information I've read about the progress and new features are more important to me than any screenshots. I might not be the only one. ________________________________________________________ Lock on MUST have a dynamic campaign with multplayer capability! Fufunka Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 BS - LUA exports/inputs? olgerd & shepski & GGTharos> thanks for your last comments.. However, there is a community of fanatics waiting for release of BS where some individuals are already in the first stages of building pits for this bird so we are eager to hear something more about the LUA in BS and the amount of exports/inputs that could be linked to the sim.. I gather you are aware of these nice glass instrument cockpits for Lockon, would it be possible to have support for MFD as well (is it techically possible)? http://www.simmeters.com/index.html Could you share some thoughts about the possible outcomes in this area? :helpsmilie:

I'll tell you what I -think- ... I believe that it is not possible to break out the MFD/ABRIS into a separate monitor (it would require major re-coding I'm sure) ... I think the LUA interface is -always- under development. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Fufunka Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 GGTharos> Thanks.. And what about the "easy" solution like already used in Falcon4 or EECH you make a screen dump of the MFD panel from video memmory and export it as image over LAN to another computer which will display it..? This is obviously a bit more fps intensive but it works too..
GGTharos Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 I'm sorry, but I don't know :( Perhaps one of the other Beta testers would be more knowledgeable - I do not built cockpits :/ [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Force_Feedback Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 Weedtree :smoke: is all we need, so I can make a new ganja-oriented video without using palm trees. Nah, I'd rather have twilight zone trees than 10 fps. DAmn you ED, optimize the fish, or else we will mod it to look like Terminal Velocity (now that was a good game, wasn't it?). :joystick: Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:
krel01 Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 This means that ED will release it in November or December as it will take at least 2 months to test an installer then properly set up a download/payment service , a process outside their control. I watched that MAKS video and I was not very much impressed by the environment , what looks gorgeous at 1000 ft and 250 kts may look dated at 100 ft and 120 kts. I would not be surprised if LOBS were to be delayed until early next year in order to implement maybe speedtree or something similar. Yes that is what I think too. IT WILL HOPEFULLY BE IN STORES FOR CHRISTMAS !!! Greetings krel01 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
