For those that are saying that the save or load option is grayed out - are you doing this whilst you are in the aircraft/started a mission? If so, you can't save or load profiles - this can only be done when you are in the options menu before starting a mission.

While in the middle of a fresh install,, I can say this so far, copying over my backup files from:

C:\Users\MYNAME\Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input\A-10C (which include Joystick, keyboard, mouse, etc)

did NOT accommodate all the previous control settings. I go into the options and controls section and clearly see all my settings for my HOTAS and Pedal's are not there?

A fresh install of DCS or Windows? If you reinstalled Windows it will change the ID of all or your USB controllers and the file names you copied over will not be correct.

Its a fresh install of both. I actually just tried to load a saved controls profile for the A-10C, that did not work either. So your saying since its a fresh install of both, there are no files I can backup from the previously installed versions and re-use? In other words. I have a complete backup of windows 10 from when I upgraded from windows 7, with DCS on it. I have the luxury of restoring back to that image and retrieving any vital files. Is there nothing I can do except start from scratch to redo all the changed keybindings and Axes's for all the modules I have installed? OMG please tell me that's not the case,,

No, I just clicked in a cell as described within this thread. As I recall, when I clicked on a random cell, all rows and columns became highlighted, then I had the option to save, which I did,,, please elaborate,, thanks

you need to select a cell in EACH of the controller columns and then load the saved profile, you must do this for each of the controller that have entries within the saved profile This for assigning the commands for your new install. When you load a profile I believe only the column you have clicked on is hightlighted? Can you confirm that is what is happening for you

I think this is where some of us are confused. Starting from the beginning, if you want to save the Entire profile, you can only click on one cell, and that will only be in one column, I have not been able to select more than one column. Can you save the entire profile, which will in turn save all the columns? Or can you only save one column at a time, then load the same way?

In my experience they should be alright if you saved them properly however, that being said, changing over to windows 10 appears to have some variables depending on your hardware

As I recall, I saved them in the past for the purposes of restore. In this particular case, I backed up the entire DCS saved games folder from my windows 10 upgrade. Now that I reformatted and am doing a clean install of Win 10 and a fresh install of DCS, it was just a matter of taking the backup input files and copying them in the fresh directory. I see the files, all looks well. But maybe it has something to do with the new USB assignments from the fresh install compared to the upgrade backup as stated?

Yes you will have new assignmennts. Rename your backup files with the new assignment codes and replace the new files with the old (renamed) files.

Hmm,, I think I see the point you are making,, for instance, right now I am restored back to my upgrade version of Win 10 so I can now save the controls profiles per column. I'm looking at the current files in :

C:\Users\MY NAME\Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input\A-10C\joystick

I see 4 files:

Saitek Pro Flight Combat Rudder Pedals {E18BBD30-7DCF-11e2-8001-444553540000}.diff.lua

Saitek Pro Flight Combat Rudder Pedals {E18BBD30-7DCF-11e2-8001-444553540000}.lua

Thrustmaster HOTAS Cougar {73AF6370-E392-11e1-8001-444553540000}.diff.lua

Thrustmaster HOTAS Cougar {73AF6370-E392-11e1-8001-444553540000}.lua

So I think I see clearly what you mean about having to rename for the codes. Now I'm going to restore back to the clean version within the next hour or so, and from what I recall, the INPUT files were not even generated yet in the saved games file structure, even though I did quick startups on all the modules. I might be wrong though, but I thought I had to make them initially,, anyway,, thanks for the help so far all,, be back soon with a report,,,

I'm making progress. opened DCS options and started loading profiles one at a time for each column, so far a quick test of the A-10 it worked. 2 things I noticed, the input files under saved games/config are not developed until you actually make a change of the default controls settings. the other is, all of my mouse column backups for each module I made are no where to be found LOL,,, weird,,,, making progress though.

Can someone do me a solid and post the consensus on this?

A quick bullet point like you're explaining it to a 3rd grader would be awesome!

Thanks!

Id like to myself, but the jury is still out. I still have some issues to resolve myself. There were some great points made here, but being involved myself, I see the ambiguity indeed,, I'm still learning myself,,,

Update, here is what I found out myself so far,,, I stated above that my P-51D control inputs did not save as my other modules did, and none of my mouse profiles saved for any module.

I just restored back to take a look at those profiles, and what I found is that although in the past, I did extensive work on configuring the P-51D controls, they are no longer there for some reason. I have not flow the P-51 for well over 1 to 2 years I suspect, so somewhere along the way, they got overwritten. And the conclusion I have come to so far is that if there are any columns that have not been modified, and stayed default, they will not save. That is the reason why I could not find my P-51 and mouse profiles, I went through the save process, but when I clicked ok, the file simply did not get generated.
