Hello Pilots,

I need to upgrade my system from scratch so I decided to make a "maybe buy" list.

It should run Of course DCSW, Arma, GTAV and stuff like that but DCSW is high priority. :joystick:

All I have till now is:

Tower: Sharkoon T28

Mainboard: Asus Z170-A Mainboard Sockel 1151

RAM: HyperX HX426C15FBK2/16 16GB kit (2x8GB) 2666MHz 1.2V, 288-pin DDR4 Non-ECC CL15 DIMM (Skylake ready)

Graphics Card:

EVGA 04G-P4-3975-KR NVIDIA GTX970 SuperSC ACX 2.0 3,2S Grafikkarte (PCI-e 4096, 4GB GDDR5, VGA, DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort, 1 GPU)

Power Supply: Thermaltake 630W - already in use.

CPU:

Intel CORE I5-6600K 3.50GHZ

Now what do you guys think about that rig?

Im not a specialist and I didnt saw any incompatible part but id like that ppl with more knowledge than I look at this list and tell me what theyre thinking about.

Ok I wont buy everythin together maybe collect them over lets say 2 months (Trainee salary ) and than put them all together just that you know that i cant efford an Nvidia Titan Z ;)

Well I have a GTX 970 Strix too, and untill now, I'm happy with it, you just have to think about the 3.5 GDDR5 Memory, so maybe going for a GTX 980

Edit: You might should buy 2*8 GB RAM so you still can Upgrade if needed

Thanks for the answer,

Well 500€ are currently too much for me. Thats the reason why I choose the gtx970 and they have both 4096 MB GDDR5 if its that what you mean.

Ill going for 16GB - NTTR is going to be hard for it I think ;)

Thx again,

Well they have a little problem, they have 3.5 GB GDDR5 and 0.5 GB GDDR5 so 3.5 GB are fast but also fast used while gaming, especially DCS, but you should still be able to play at leat 100 fps with HD, without Heat blur, so, your choise

Ok thanks for the explanation! Im going think about it.

60fps are already enough for me ;)

First, maybe you should know how many Vram you need :ermm: At 1920x1080?

https://forums.bistudio.com/topic/156993-arma-3-cpu-vs-ram-performance-comparison-1600-2133-up-to-15-fps-gain/

Ok the 3,5gb vram are fast used for games like arma and dcs - play arma II btw forgot to mention sry - but most graphic cards I found on the net from Nvidia are 4GB DDR5. What are you recommending? (I had just problems with ATI so I prefer Nvidida.)

What's the rational for 4000 series i7 instead of 6000 series? Are you saving that much on the CPU, RAM, and Mobo?

Was that in affiliation with the post Deamon linked or the Stuff I listed above?

Sry im not a nativ english speaker so I dont get the relation between the thing about the I7 and the series :(

Whats wrong about the cpu, MoBo and RAM. Do you think I should get other better stuff? When yes which one?

Maybe some of you could tell me what are you using and what performance you gain in DCSW 1.5 once its released just out of interest and to compare the stuff I listed.

Thanks for the Answers,

Griffon26

I planned that rig to buy...still a bit expensive...would wait for 2.0 release...expect lower prices by the end of this year :D

You can use "MSI afterburner/settings/monitoring/active hardware monitoring graphs" to see how much Vram (video ram) you used.

If i had to update, i will choose the new socket 1151, if affordable.

To save money on the RAM is ok cause u can add it anytime later on but I would really not get the 970 for the 3.5GB fraud if you play other modern games. It might well be a limiting factor there.

Whatever you buy, check that you dont buy it twice !

You cant upgrade a CPU or GPU, but you can use your old PSU maybe for another month or two, or case and fans etc...HD, so you can invest in a stable and futureproof mobo-cpu-gpu combo. Anything else can be changed, added or such with little effort and no or minimal money loss later in the game when money is at hand again.

Making a compromise with mobo-cpu-gpu is a long term decision and commitment.

Well, it depends on how much money you can spend...but I would beef it up a bit:

RAM: get something faster and with a lower CL...I like my RAM around 8-10 CL range, and get at least 16g

Graphics: The 970 is great, if you can afford the 980 go for that...but the 970 should be good for quite a bit of time

Processor: I'm a fan of the i-7....I find more OC control, but if you don't care of OC then i-5 is fine.

Power: I would get 850w because the 970 is going to suck up a lot of power.

I understand all of your reasons mentioned and a big thank you for the help  Yea buying the important stuff first makes sence. The other things could be added later.

For me its so difficult to find the best, stable, future proof and compatible rig because of the missing knowledge in some things. Ok I know some really basic stuff but if I'm honest the biggest problem for me is to distinguish the things like whats better I5 6600 or I7 2600... With those numbers and stuff - they tell me absolutely nothing... Im to stupid :)

Of course I know that the 980 is better and newer than the 970 but also both have 4096 MB DDR5 RAM. Is there any other version with mroe RAM? What do I miss? I dont get it.

Excuse that stupidity but thats the reason Im answering such questions that ppl can answer who have much more knowledge than I have.

My biggest question now is:

The things I mentioned above in the 3 links. Would they work together and would they get me enough performance for current and future games? With 16GB Ram from Kingston and the I5 6600K? Btw I do not OC because of the lack of knowledge and I do not make any movie stuff.

Lets say I wanna spend 1000€ on the important things of a rig. What would you recommend? Send me some links that I could compare from what I got till now. Just for the Mobo, CPU and Video Card. Im really sorry guys that I make that much work to you but its much money for me that should be wisely spend.

Thanks for your Patient!

About the RAM, look for the fastest RAM your mobo can use, at a resonable price of course.

Don't need to spend to much money for a "little faster" RAM.

Thermaltake power supply are not very good, cheap components, degradation over time...

Keep in mind, maybe you will have to spend money on a new one, later...
