Sryan Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Same here. So it happens on AMD hardware too. Chipset: 990FX CPU: AMD FX8350 8×4GHz GPU AMD R9 290 RAM: 16GB@1333MHz When looking into the sky from F2 view I sustain 60 fps. but looking at the ground drops it to 30-40. Check my F-15C guide
Dino1981 Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 yes, it also happens with AMD - here with Radeon HD7870 Intel i7 3770 (@4,1GHz), NVIDIA GTX 1070, 16GB RAM 1600MHz, Microsoft Sidewinder 2, Windows 10 Professional, Oculus Rift :pilotfly:
Maverick263 Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 and same here. completely kills FPS in outside view.

Mewle Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 (edited) I changed shadows to flat only and tree shadows to flat to stop the random crashes i was getting, and now DOF no longer causes frame drops. Everything else is set to highest Except AA @ 8x and cockpit textures at simple 512(not every frame). I don't know if that's replicable for anyone else. (EDIT) Frame drops are still there just less severe in my case w/these settings Edited October 10, 2015 by Mewle Intel i5 4690k MSI GTX 970 4g gaming edition Asus Z97k Mobo 8Gb Corsair vengeance 1866mhz 120GB Samsung 840 evo Samsung 1TB Spinpoint hdd Windows 10 4 channel surround Hotas Cougar w/ 120mm machined steel extension and elite rudder pedals DIY collective via bu0836x plus some random buttons and knobs Cougar MFDs Running 1920*2104 over 3 screens
Mustang Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 (edited) You can lessen the FPS hit a great deal by making a small edit to DOF.fx (Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Bazar\shaders\PostEffects) line 54: #define NUMBER 50.0 edit: attached edited file incase some have problems altering it. indiadamjones Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Thank you Mustang! You can lessen the FPS hit a great deal by making a small edit to DOF.fx (Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Bazar\shaders\PostEffects) line 54: #define NUMBER 50.0 edit: attached edited file incase some have problems altering it. You're a genius, how did you figure that out? NM, I don't need know. May the force be with you. | A-10C | Ka-50 | F-86 | Mig-15 | P-51D | [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
indiadamjones Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Update, previous settings area disabled. With the last update it appears the entire section of setting related to our previous tweak has been disabled. New post in hoggit this morning, about DOF being a frame killer. Oh, and some new clouds on the horizon, unrelated. | A-10C | Ka-50 | F-86 | Mig-15 | P-51D | [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Frakin Toasters Posted June 23, 2017 Posted June 23, 2017 Still worked for me, brilliant tweak. Makes the game look fantastic with zero performance hit, thanks heaps!
skywalker22 Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 DoF seems to still be an issue, I would say its more related to Nvidia (latest drivers v.531.68). Check this comparison pic. FPS hit is quite high, also cpu and gpu load is way higher using bokeh or simple type.
