So that's why!

I flew the Fishbed for the first time in 1.5 yesterday and after a long flight i couldn't deploy the chute on landing. Neither the HOTAS button worked, nor the mouse in the cockpit. I haven't tried the keyboard shortcut, since it was unkown to me. I also put the landing leaver in neutral position right after takeoff. I'm also using an axis for the wheel brakes, so it sounds like it really causes the problem.

DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!

This is still an issue. Air leaks away leaving none to activate the chute upon landing, even when returning the gear level to neutral after take off.

I'm going to try the axis suggestion and unassign the brakes from my pedals.

This wasn't a problem in 1.2.

The air starts to leak as soon as you use the brake axis, it won't happen if you use the button. But having an on/off button for differential braking is not ideal.

True. Hope it will be fixed soon.

Maybe they missed the report? It's been a while and not even a mention that the issue is recognised. Things slip through the cracks sometimes and they're pretty busy. It happens.

I don't test for bugs, but when I do I do it in production.

Could this be a spiking potentiometer issue on the brake axis? Or that the axis does not return to exactly 0 after releasing the brake? I.e. tried to use a small dead zone, yet?

I test with T-Rudder axis set for brake (+LWin), the MaRS @ 11 bit sensor have no visible spikes on test programs.

Use this deadzone setting:

With deadzone less than 50% the brake lever stay a bit pressed. I add more 10%.

Not sure about the effect of this "Saturation" but move the slider 5 points.

And the air leakage happen after press the brake with the pedal axis.

As in RL Mig-21 I use that lever in control grip for wheels brakes. Erhh... not exact the same, but the ... joy trigger. :)

Praise Celestia I've found this thread... princess_celestia.png

Just some months ago I did a quick check to see if the double FFB trim issue had been resolved which isn't the case even today. I noticed that the drag chute didn't come out, but I managed to come to a full stop just short of the runway's end. Then I looked at my plane to see if I maybe lost it due to too high thr or speed upon deploying the chute as I used to slam it out at ~80-85% rpm before and use it as a retro thrust device dealwithit.png

Well, the drag chute case was still closed and therefore I double checked if "P" (don't have a full stick or HOTAS mapping of the 21 yet) actually worked. And yes, it was still mapped and the button in the 'pit gets pressed by it, but no chute, that little tail cone stays shut applejackshocked.png

But well, I didn't give a buck and just waited a few updates including 2.0 open alpha and stuff just to notice today this didn't change at all aj-hm.png

Now I just checked if perhaps the command bindings conf files have changed but at least in that case they didn't, my modded one and the original one both show this command line:

{combos={{key='P'}},down=device_commands.DragChute,up=device_commands.DragChute, cockpit_device_id=devices.CHUTE,value_down=1.0,value_up=0.0,name='Drag Chute - Activate',category='Gears, brakes and chute'},

Well I even checked the cockpit for any switches forgotten to flip over and I watched a landig tutorial again, can't find the cause on my side salute.png

€dit: Actually read most of the thread now... and I'm of course using an axis for the brakes, so at least it's obvious now why this happened to me, it still just needs a fix fsgrin.png

I appear to have got this problem after the 1.52 update. It worked fine before.

Nothing I can do will persuade my chute to deploy. When hitting the "P" key, I can see the cockpit animation/button moving but nothing happens.

My hydraulics are fine (plenty of air) and all other systems are OK. I'm repaired/re-armed/re-fuelled etc. Still no go.

Adam.

EDIT: I double-checked: it *is* an air bleed - as shown in the gauge RH61. I have my wheel brakes set to an axis (foot pedals) as I thought it gave me better braking control. I'll try un-binding them and just using the W key.

UPDATE: With the axis un-mapped, there' no air leak. I reverted to binding my left/right toe brakes to "W" with the Saitek control panel.

This is fixed in 2.0.1.

1.5.3 update should be released this Friday and hopefully will include the fix.
