Upgraded A-10C cockpit and external model

As the new modules from ED/Belsimtek came out (like the Mig-15, or the L-39), it became clear what's the lastest visual quality standard for the modeled aircrafts cockpit and external model visuals.

 

The Warthog, with its 4 years old model, shows its age, and it's not comparable to the new big boys.

 

It would be great, as a payware add-on, to see some fresh cockpit and external model visual realism upgrade for our beloved A-10C.

It looks good to me.

The KA-50 is kinda blurry (low texture resolution) but the A-10 is nice and crisp

there are a few good cockpit mods out there.

Horse of war is very good.

Check it out.

Id rather ED work on new stuff then go back and remodel old stuff especially when mods already take care of that.

I havent used the default a10c cockpit in a long time.Now with the 1.5 beta I am in the default one and cant wait to switch back to horse of war.

There is a real good ka50 cockpit mod also i believe by devrim.I might be wrong on the maker of it but check it out.

Mods just are never as good as if they fix it from ED. Like the Mig 29 for instance. It is incredibly beautiful now. Mods only modify what is existing and if that's 4 years old, well...

the mig29 is a different thing.

The cockpit wasnt 6dof so a mod wasnt made.

Im sure now that the 6dof cockpit is out you will see a mod to change anything if that is what people want.

Try the horse of war a10c cockpit,you wont be disappointed.

The horse of war a10c cockpit mod is probably the best looking cockpit out of all the cockpits,stock or modded.

No the A-10C in DCS 1.5 with lower texture setting is blurry. just look at the record switch on the left of the cockpit, and the HSI at Medium and Low Textures.

 

Actually in DCS 1.5 when you lower the Textures in the options menu the Cockpit's text becomes blurry in DCS 1.5.

 

In DCS 1.2.16 there is a zip file in \Bazar\World\textures\ called CockpitsHDTextures.zip that prevented the lower textures settings from making the text in the cockpits from being blurry.

With a little touch up yes. It's hard to believe the A-10C is straight off the assembly line.

I use some worn cockpit, but I forgot which one. It looks great and I simply can't go back to the default cockpit.

 

No military jet looks like that, unless it just rolled out of the factory.

I believe the Ka-50 could use a refresher in terms of textures (inside and out, and pilot figure). I'd even pay for that. :)

I think it was inevitable that a more powerful graphics engine would result in us wanting improved modelling for all the aircraft.

 

I personally like the work to be done by the forum members with the talent necessary. That way, ED can concentrate on the things we cannot mod ourselves. But is that a reasonable expectation?

 

I think however that until we have DCS World 2.0 fully rolled out in a final release version, then modding will not help the developers cope with the inevitable bugs. I have a feeling they will want us to stick to clean versions of 1.5 and 2.0.

 

The future however, is very promising. Is there anyone at all not happy with how well EDGE has met and surpassed expectations?

Its not hard to get horse of war working again, they just modified the folder layout so there are less paths to get to the texture..

 

 

to get it working just change the folder layout from

 

...\Mods\aircraft\A-10C\Cockpit\Resources\Model\Textures

 

to

 

...\Mods\aircraft\A-10C\Cockpit\Textures

 

 

See it's working in mine: (granted, i took the liberty of adding a few personal touches to his version xD)

Perhaps maybe add pilot bodies as standard to all the older aircraft as well? :) But yes...I think now the pinnacle is the Mig 29, Mig 21 and the L-39 albatross pits... :)

Textures are one thing but that is not what is so much better in the new pits of the new modules, it's the geometric detail that really sets them apart. I agree the ka50 and a10c need a fresh build of the pit.

 

Having sat in many A-10 cockpits in real life I don't agree, once you add the Horse of War textures the A-10C cockpit is just fine.

I'd pay for an upgrade of both the A-10C and the Ka-50, if it included 4k textures and also some additional weapon and/or sensor capabilities.

(e.g. HMS in the A-10C, and IR Shkval for the Shark).
