not sure I have seen anyone speaking of their experience actually owning and using one?

Bourrinopathe can comment on that!

PS: I hope to have my MkIII Mamba some time in January, so I can review it then, too. I already own the VKB MkIII T-Rudder Pedals and love them!

Ok thanks guys. I have the Crosswind MFG's on order so I am set for pedals, and pretty happy with my Warthog setup, but am curious about these VKB joysticks.

I will keep an eye out for reports when guys start receiving the newer ones.

I like VKB Mamba (in default configuration) better for fine aiming than TM warthog with its sticktion. However, I found that the original pincer-type mechanism is not very comfortable to use with the Warthog stick strapped on. The upcoming cam-type mechanism is supposed to solve this.

Well I preordered the Black Mamba Mk III. And a Warthog stick on eBay.

Unreasonable but hey, it's almost Christmas

Warthog stick on eBay.

There's gotta be some luck involved...

Try as might, I couldn't find a separate warthog stick (without its base) for sale on eBay :(

Fat Mamba MkIII is back!!!!

Indeed, it was on the French eBay, at 81€ (winning bid). Far less than similar, stick only offers. Seller says it's in mint condition. We'll see...

This model, the "Black Mamba Vintage" edition, exemplify well the VKB ... erhh..."confusion". :)

- Is "add-hoc" created due the unexpected shortage of Cobra M-5 grip (3rd part product).

- Is not advertised by VKB Western resellers.

- But advertised in this Russia page (2nd upwards)

http://www.vkb-flightsimcontrols.com/zakaz/index_z.php

- That advertised too the base only without grip (1st upwards), what many Cougar/Warthog owners want buy - mostly in the Western.

But his English PR/partner recently say that buy only bases are not possible: :music_whistling:

http://forum.vkb-sim.pro/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=2015

I suspect that their "Rasputin" (Rudel) is the culprit.

Rasputin from the 143.900Mhz? (who told you that?)

What you call confusion is the flexibility of the core design used to fulfill customers request.

Now that my country has been jump started, I will be for real soon.

also I will like to talk to you by phone.

What you call confusion is the flexibility of the core design used to fulfill customers request.

The term "confusion" was used in ironic way, why the "", but the fact is:

- People want Mamba with "modern JET" multiple buttons grip, VKB can offer a 3 buttons grip...

- They say one thing in one forum, the PR say other thing in another forum - as in previous post. Well, that guy give a impression in RoF/BoS forum to be a "sly old fox". :D

- When I did the previous post the information are really lacking. And still lack in some area:

People want know the size of stick, the size of base plate - if the base holes match the Warthog ones, to be fitted in Obuto "cockpit", etc.

Some information are vague - probable due Russian/English translation - e.g. (Vintage Mamba):

- 1 Toggle Switch (3 position, with fixation) - What is this "fixation"?

The stick extension advertising dont inform the extension length... :joystick:

I try help, digging some drawings in the Russian forum. But people want the "official" information.

The gimbal upgrade kit show a picture of gimbal assembled with two sensor installed, a adapter and a extra set of CAM, but don't describe the kit contend. Some people can conclude that the sensors are included... They are?

This is not critic, just observations.

your critics are very important and I am VERY happy to have you available.

yesterday I literally say that this is not the Manhattan project..........

EJ functionality that was a NO (and a deal breaker for some) is now been designed, the specifics if made public can help customers decide.

We plan ahead when thinking on buy this type of solutions.......and the lack of info is frustrating.

momentum can be replaced by uncertainty

still you get confused easy

I guess when it comes to VKB products that I would buy, a modern split throttle, and a modern, modular grip (similar, but maybe improved materials and functionality compared to the Cobra grip) is needed, that works with both the Mamba and Gunfighter bases.

What do we know about those offerings so far?

Build a modular system is not easy, but is there, it require a little more quality control.

And the deflection angle is a bit more 20° on each side of each axis.

VKB still needs some basic documentation and based on the recent T-Rudder MkIII Quick Start Guide, it's on its way.

US citizen here:

Is the only way to preorder this through the European VKB FSC website now? The only US distributor I know of (Stratojet) is currently sold out... I'm pretty bummed out that I just found out about this stick today. I haven't played flight sims in a while because I lacked a PC at my college to play them on. Am about to finish a new desktop build, and I just started looking into getting a new HOTAS setup. Even with the international shipping, the price on the European site is only 5$ more than Stratojet, and it says that there are no taxes. Would it be safe to preorder directly from VKB FSC?

Unfortunately, the Fat Black Mamba Mk III with the Cobra grip is sold out everywhere (even on the russian market).

The only one you could pre-order is the Vintage Fat Black Mamba Limited Edition (ouch that's a long name ;) ), with the KG-12 style grip from the Gladiator series.

If you're a US citizen you should pre-order from Stratojet.

Where did you see there are no taxes?

From the EU website:

Listed price does not include VAT tax and shipping cost. VAT 21% is applicable for all shipments within European Union.

From the EU website:

I was actually just about to edit my post after realizing that the one I was considering pre-ordering was not the one that was sold out on Stratojet's website. Well, this is unfortunate. Is there any chance I'll be able to preorder this at a later date? I'm going to be pretty upset if the only way I'll be able to get my hands on one of these now is if I buy it second hand, especially if there's a price hike due to the demand.

Afaik there's no plan for a new production batch. The new Gladiator and Gunfighter series are the successors.

I know some owners use the Mamba base with the Warthog grip and perhaps some of them would be willing to sell their spare Cobra grip but that's a long stretch.

And you'll have to buy a Vintage Edition.

I'm sorry you missed the last units sale. Perhaps you could ask VKB if they have a used/demonstration Cobra grip for sale?

Alternatively, the EU website seem to have the Fat King Cobra MkIV available.

Basically it's an improved Cobra base (metal gimbal, additional controls, NJoy32 controller) with no twist rudder.

I agree with Bourrinopathe - the "Fat Black Mamba" with the Russian-style grip is gone forever. However, VKB is supposedly working on some new, yet undisclosed Russian-style grip that some say is based on a more modern jet. When? Nobody knows...

The good thing about VKB is that they try to have modular designs, so even though you might buy the Vintage Mamba, you can later swap out that grip with another grip that VKB is making.

I would say that your best choice is getting the gunfighter, and then later swap that grip out with something else. Heck, you could even find a TM Warthog or Cougar grip, buy the VKB adapter, and stick it on that Mamba base with the awesome new, heavy-duty gimbal... :)

Also, if you insist on having that Russian-style grip, you could grab that Fat King Cobra Bourrinopathe has mentioned above! :)
