SuperKungFu Posted June 10, 2006 Posted June 10, 2006 Where is the cheapest place i can get a new trackir 4 pro? (that means no ebay) I know from gogamers with the $30 coupon will bring the total price to $168. I was just wondering was there any other sites i didn't know about. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
SuperKungFu Posted June 11, 2006 Author Posted June 11, 2006 btw, does anyone know if gogamer comes with a trackir hat? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
SuperKungFu Posted June 13, 2006 Author Posted June 13, 2006 lol thanks rug… this is going to make me sound like a loser, but I don't have any hat at home. So if I was going to get one, mind as well be a trackir hat. Also doesn't the trackir hat have the white reflector tape across the top so it might improve accuracy? Regardless it’s still a good hat. Also, since no one else replied, I'm guessing no one else found a better deal that $168? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
SuperKungFu Posted June 14, 2006 Author Posted June 14, 2006 oh, so it would actually be bad to get the trackir hat? Thanks for the info, i guess i can get the Fighter Ops hat lol :pilotfly: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
snomhf Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 Hmm, I thought one of the options was to get it with a hat that has the three reflectors sewed into it (i.e., you don't need the Martian headset :) ) I could be wrong about this. I chose the Falcon4-AF option rather than the hat option when I bought mine. I clipped my reflector thingy on the headband of my mic headset. Works great. Don't need a hat. Looks a little weird. Makes my wife just shake her head when she walks in the room. Sigh. ---------- Click here for details ---------- Abit AV8 MB, AMD Athlon 64 3200+, 1.5 GB DDR, GeForce 6600GT/256MB AGP, CH Fighterstick/Pro Throttle/Pro Pedals/Throttle Quad/DT225 Trackball, TIR4
SuperKungFu Posted June 14, 2006 Author Posted June 14, 2006 snomhf, where did you buy your trackir 4 and how much? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Nate Dogg Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 Im guessing your in america? then i think go-gamers is the best. I got mine from a local store in australia for 268AUD which is about 200 bucks US. Can't say i use it all that much tho. Basically useless for fs2004, unless the plane has a good VC which most free ones don't and even default 747 one is average. Works well with lockon, just a few issues i need sorted. Like the default zoom i like to have it back a little, but then the zoom is too sensitive and it jerks around a bit making things hard to read. Most likely me tho so defenetly get it as 6DOF mixed with a great VC like the piper warrior from aus sim, is awesome and thats what BS will be like. As for the hat, just email natural point or go-gamers and find out the best thing. I just use a standard hat, that is purely for the trackir. Anyway good luck with it all cheers
snomhf Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 I got mine from gogamers. $179 with Falcon4-AF. Probably not the best deal but decent. Thanks for the correction on the hat Rugg. I guess I was dreaming (again). Nate, I'm having a blast with TIR4 in FS2004. That's the only game I have that uses all 6DOF. I found an F-15 free plane I like a lot that has a very nice 3d pit. Total joy flying through Grand Canyon at 500 knots. ---------- Click here for details ---------- Abit AV8 MB, AMD Athlon 64 3200+, 1.5 GB DDR, GeForce 6600GT/256MB AGP, CH Fighterstick/Pro Throttle/Pro Pedals/Throttle Quad/DT225 Trackball, TIR4

warthogmadman987 Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 ya, could i have the link to that free f-15 too? and any other free aircraft that are good? All the ones i find cost.

I'm using a normal baseball cap with the clip, it's flawless. Zoom was hurting my neck, but thats mostly cause my chair is a peice of crap, and i have to fight it to lean foward..lol :)
NEODARK Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 Be happy to Neodark. I'll have to wait till later tonight though when I get home. Thank you :D
snomhf Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 Several people have send me messages asking for the FS2004 freeware F-15. I won't be home for several hours to verify, but I'm almost certain I found the one I got: Go to http://www.avsim.com then "File library." Do a search for "F-15" in the "Flight Simulator 2004 - Original Aircraft" category. It should be the last one that shows up: USAF F-15C Eagle V/C Model Author: Kimitaka Nishida , Atsushi Terui Filename: f15c674.zip I'll double check this later to make sure that is the right one but I'm all but certain that it is. ---------- Click here for details ---------- Abit AV8 MB, AMD Athlon 64 3200+, 1.5 GB DDR, GeForce 6600GT/256MB AGP, CH Fighterstick/Pro Throttle/Pro Pedals/Throttle Quad/DT225 Trackball, TIR4
dynamocl Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 I got the trackIR hat with my trackIr (I don't think you are a loser for not owning a baseball cap - infact I think the opposite). The hat does not have the tape people of attached to it, these were the old style. The new style caps have a perfect sized peak for the vector expansion to clip into (the funny three pronged thing). If you havnt got a baseball cap, I would suggest getting the trackIR one with your order. Saves you trying to find one thats fits good, and it also sort of explains why you have a weird contraption attached to it. I agree though, 6 DOF makes a massive improvement on flight sim (apart from when you try to use the mouse to hit a switch, but your head moves, F9 to the rescue - MS could fix this by moving your mouse relative to the instrument panel, and not the display screen).

Trackir is good for zomm but when trying to keep the image zoomed in for a period, like on the MFD it just shakes around too much, even when i couldn't keep my head more still if i tried. It curtainly is a bit of a struggle to hit switches in fs9 but i don't have the annoying zoom issues as much as i do with the combat profile. Still great fun either way cheers
dynamocl Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 Sounds like you need to tweak the profile, set up the null zones etc, I have no problems anymore when moving my head towards the monitor to zoom in.

Rocket75 Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 Just wanted to mention if your going to buy a hat, buy the one that has an "open" top. Some people call them tennis hats? Anyways, a closed Hat is way too hot in the summer, and will get annoying, I speak from experience. Your going to look goofy with this thing on your head anyways, so go all out  P4-2.4QC-oc'd to 3.2ghz, 2gb Crucial PC6400 DDR2-1066mhz, Evga 8800GTS 640mb, Sata Drives, TIR3Pro
SuperKungFu Posted June 15, 2006 Author Posted June 15, 2006 thanks for the tip guys, i guess ill go for the visor (aka tennis hat). I want to get that hat since the trackir hats fit nicely with the vector clip due to its flat head rather than that curve hat seen on regular hat. However, gogamer doesn't sell the hat so i have to ask them about it since its pretty senseless to buy the trackir 4 from gogamer and then the hat from naturalpoint that cost $18 with shipping. snomhf Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 Before I clipped mine to my headset, I used a visor given out free at a Richmond Braves baseball game. It worked perfectly. I just hate to wear a hat of any sort so I went to the headset. ---------- Click here for details ---------- Abit AV8 MB, AMD Athlon 64 3200+, 1.5 GB DDR, GeForce 6600GT/256MB AGP, CH Fighterstick/Pro Throttle/Pro Pedals/Throttle Quad/DT225 Trackball, TIR4
snomhf Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 Here's something for you to try; those of you who have downloaded the FS9 F-15... Do the Kiosk-Barnstorming flight but switch to the F-15 then fly through the barn at 500kts. My hat's off to ya if you can do it! EDIT: Oops! Sorry. That was an F-16 that I was flying through that barn in. SuperKungFu Posted June 18, 2006 Author Posted June 18, 2006 Could anyone post a picture of how the trackir would stay on a laptop screen or does it need the Monitor Mount? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
