ShuRugal Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 I've experienced somewhat higher levels of lag-related issues since 1.5 beta rolled out, but the server i was just on absolutely takes the cake.... check out this tacview, shot on the TAW server. everyone is warping around at mach 150-200+....lag-tacular.rar

Rider1 Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Hi! Could you post the code for that 10mb host setting? Thanks much.
Alphazulu Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 So if I read thius right, this is actualy asking you to create a new file called autoexec.cfg with those two lines as opposed to editing an existing file? I don't have a autoexec.cfg in that directory.
Shahdoh Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 That is correct, create if not there, add to it if it is.

Shahdoh Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 The more people that set it, the better it will be for everyone. Really needs to be as the default instead of the minimal settings that are there now.
104th_Maverick Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 I will check with the TAW guys to see if they have their host settings up'd to 10mb instead of the default. Thank you for the notis ShuRugal, this is our 1.5 test server. TAW runs headless servers (no GPU) and DCS 1.5 is using 53% CPU just for the graphic menu system, whereas 1.2.16 uses 8% CPU. The problem is now that both the simulator and menu system is using a unified executable to support better graphics to the mission builder, a change which I support very much! There is no way to switch off Render3D like in 1.2.16, or at least it is not working so DCS 1.5 uses 100% CPU just by starting the Multiplayer server and load a simple mission with two aircrafts. I have done a lot of tests and also changed the default net speed settings. After the patch the server draws 93% CPU but the warping is still there, no wonder. I have now completed the logging and screen shot documentation and will forward these to ED in a proper bugreport. But to be realistic, I don't believe we are going to see the TAW server running 1.5 without lag before a dedicated server is here or at least the current DCS settings can include a headless server option. Oh, we have now upgraded our lines to 1Gbps line for the test server also but that had nothing to do with the warping so we can adjust client and server network speed as much as we like but it will not have any effect, the warping is because there is no CPU left for the processing. So the only hosters that is going to be successful with their servers for now is the once that have a full GPU support and private hosters from their own home. I have a very good host here with a powerful GPU which runs everything just fine and can host 20 players on a mission with 300 active units and a 100Mbps line so I am confident that ED will solve this even for dedicated servers some day.
HiJack Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 The TAW server needed to run one more test round so the logs will not be reported before Monday the earliest.

Shahdoh Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 what needs to happen is that the client autodetects the available bandwidth and adjusts itself correctly. I do not disagree with that at all, but atm, the simpler solution is just to increase the default. Even with the settings opened up to allow 10mbs, with 20 clients connected, am only tracking 1.5mbs activity. The power users will make the change, but that leaves a large number of people who either do not read the threads or do not dare touch files on their computer. Those will continue to see the lag spikes due to the choked bandwidth set by default. Simply increase the default and that will eliminate 1 of a few different things going on with MP connections IMHO.
Mustang Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 FYI the render3D = true/false; problem has been reported to ED and is being investigated.
MonnieRock Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 (edited) net.download_speed = 1310720 net.upload_speed = 1310720 Hello Everyone, What would I put in the autoexec.cfg to use the connection I have for my server? My understanding the values are for bytes per second in the autoexec.cfg? My connection is : Download =15714 kilobytes per second, does this mean 15714000 bytes per second? Upload = 3018 kilobytes per second, does this mean 3018000 bytes per second? So what should I put make the upload and download(the autoexec.cfg entry) the same as my connection's upload? My current setting in autoexec.cfg is: net.download_speed = 26214400 net.upload_speed = 26214400 Thank you, Monnie Edited October 11, 2015 by MonnieRock Rack Rig: Rosewill RSV-L4000 | Koolance ERM-3K3UC | Xeon E5-1680 v2 @ 4.9ghz w/EK Monoblock | Asus Rampage IV Black Edition | 64GB 2133mhz | SLI TitanXP w/ EK Waterblocks | 2x Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB | Seasonic 1000w Titanium | Windows 10 Pro 64bit | TM Warthog HOTAS w/40cm Extension | MFG Crosswind Rudders | Obutto R3volution | HP Reverb

Cowboy10uk Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Hi guys, do I get everyone to add this auto exec.cfg or just myself who's hosting. Sadly currently suffering from horrible lag, for those who are trying to connect to me, they are averaging 1 - 5 fps, which is unheard off, prior to the latest patch. We have always had no issues with MP, and everyone has at least a 20mb connection. Desperate to find a solution as DCS MP is currently unusable for us at mo. Cowboy10uk Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Well just tried this and sadly no good, my server and PC runs fine at 60fos but any clients are reporting 5 - 10 fps Max, and the moment any aircraft turns up that drops to 1fps, which makes MP unplayable, when I look at the clients during this time, I can see them rubber banding all over the place. God I hope they fix this tomorrow with 2.0 Cowboy10uk [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Fighter pilots make movies, Attack pilots make history, Helicopter pilots make heros. :pilotfly: Corsair 570x Crystal Case, Intel 8700K O/clocked to 4.8ghz, 32GB Vengeance RGB Pro DDR4 3200 MHZ Ram, 2 x 1TB M2 drives, 2 x 4TB Hard Drives, Nvidia EVGA GTX 1080ti FTW, Maximus x Hero MB, H150i Cooler, 6 x Corsair LL120 RGB Fans And a bloody awful Pilot
