SayusiAndo Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 Hi All, This is my first post here, so please be patient to me. :) I would like to buy a TrackIR5 stuff to enjoy more flying with A-10C, but I'm a bit confused what to buy. The root of the problem is that Amazon does not ship this stuff to Hungary where I live. So I have to buy it on eBay. I assume I should buy a TrackIr 5 Optical Head Tracking System Bundle + Track Clip PRO which is around 190 USD. But I can see on the eBay a product which contains Vectorclip Bundle too. I don't know what Vectorclip is. Can I ask a little explanation what I need to buy to have the same I can see on youtube videos where the guys seamlessly flying the Hog? :helpsmilie: Thanks for any help in advance! SayusiAndo
Valium Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 Are you sure you're talking about Lock On Flaming Cliffs 1/2? There wasn't any A-10C, just A-10A. A-10C is a module for Digital Combat Simulator Click here to see more pictures of Polish Air Force! Check also my album.

SayusiAndo I would not go for the trackclip pro. I hear they break a LOT. I use the vector clip on a hat. It works just as good rooms with not much light. If you have a room where there is a lot of sunlight it might not work as good.
Blooze Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 This is the vector clip or hat clip. It attaches to a baseball style cap and has light conducting material rather than tracking lights. I have had both and am very satisfied with the vector clip. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

It works just as good rooms with not much light. If you have a room where there is a lot of sunlight it might not work as good. I've got the track clip pro and I've never had any problems. It's only recently I've even heard any complaints about it. I do know that on Falcon 4 BMS at least you can only get six degrees of freedom with the pro. Don't know about other titles but functionality may be limited with the vector clip.
Dagger71 Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 I went from vector clip to trackclip pro and no way I would ever go back. track clip has active ir lights while vector clip is reflective. The difference is very noticeable in display reaction time to head movement. more precise, quicker response. I drop my head set all the time... always worrying if this will be the time it breaks and it has lasted over 3 years now. even if it did break, it would be easy to fix.
dburne Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 IIRC, at some point Natural Point changed the Pro Clip to make it a little more durable. I think much of the breakage issues was from earlier on, at least seems like I remember that but could be wrong. I have the Pro Clip and have never used it, always have used the hat deal and it has always seemed to work well for me. Maybe someday I should try out the Pro Clip, but I don't normally wear headphones and really don't care to just yet. John C Flett Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 How many can you get elsewhere? Sorry, badly phrased. You get six degrees of freedom, only with the Pro clip. As I recall the vector clip only supports four degrees. That may be unique to F4 BMS but I couldn't say. Once I started with the Pro Clip I never went back.

Not exactly, Back with original Track IR it had 2 degrees of freedom. Then they came out with the Vector Clip, I believe it was after Track IR3 had been released, to give the unit 6 degrees of freedom ( along with software update). The unit has had 6dof ever since, Track IR4 and beyond has it built in. Then they came out with the Pro Clip, one can wear with the headphones, as another option to the regular " hat clip". The hat clip comes regular with the TIR, the Pro Clip is an additional purchase ( unless you buy it in a bundle deal with the TIR). Both the hat clip and pro clip, have 6dof. However, I contacted Naturalpoint whether they ship to Hungary or not. They answered and I might get an full cost (product and shipping cost) picture. However again, I'll check the link above! Thanks again!

That may be unique to F4 BMS but I couldn't say. Once I started with the Pro Clip I never went back. Incorrect. At least with TIR 4 and later, IIRC, both type of clips support 6DOF. Which game you are playing will not make a difference. If the game only supports 4DOF then that is all you will get regardless of what TIR supports. Ah well, I could only get it working properly with my Pro clip but mayby that was just user error on my part. Either way, been using my pro clip for three years with no problems or breakages.
cichlidfan Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 The bottom line on the Pro Clip is that it is somewhat fragile. I have broken one but I own three and I also have a Delan clip. Individual results may vary but I prefer the Pro Clip over the reflector (not just because I don't have to wear a hat). Razi Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 My Pro Clip has broken a few times. It is currently permanently fixed in-place with two-part epoxy and I've had to repair it a few times even still, but it works great and I still prefer it over the hat and reflectors - it just feels less intrusive to me than the hat.
Lion13 Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Vector Clip The only compliant I have about the Vector Clip is the bill of the baseball cap interfered with my view. I have mounted the clip to my headset with velcro, and it works with out any problems. I do not believe the is limited to 4 deg of freedom. The degrees of freedom is determine by the program. A word of caution: If the IR tracker screen may sense other light sources, especially if it faces a window. This can result in unstable tracking and sudden changes in your view. You can determine this problem by looking at the camera view in the setup app. I you get red spots or blobs, you have a un-wanted light source. Close the drapes and/or turn off room lights. oskich Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 I just bought a track IR 5 from http://www.conrad.de, in Germany (I live in Sweden) for 160€... Free shipping within the whole EU. I also read the bad reviews of the trackclip, so I went online for one of these: http://www.delanengineering.com/ - Lightweight headclip made in steel :-) Skickat från min Nexus 7 via Tapatalk [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
